Mexico City has been skanking to the cool- mestizo- reggae rhythms of the Rastrillos since 1988, grooving to their joys and pains, following their musical quest for basic human values—friendship, respect, love, communication, teamwork as well as individual effort—and for the group's growth.
The Rastrillos' songs talk about all they have experienced during this long voyage guided by the four winds. They have shared the stage with internationally renowned groups, and with the best the Mexican musical scene has to offer, infusing their compositions with every kind of musical influence, but never compromising their unique sound, identity and roots. They use reggae as a route to self-awareness.

But the Rastrillos is more than just a band: it is a vessel for the fusion of multiple artistic disciplines in a kind of open workshop that functions thanks to the participation of many talented creators. These contributions have enriched the collective project, which has allowed the Rastrillos to create a genuine and constantly evolving sound.

With a new crew on board, the Rastrillos now set off for new destinations, to take their musical concept to every corner of the Earth.

Near the end of 2005, the Rastrillos began their tour promoting their fourth album, “Se acabó el reve” (the party is over), recorded at the P&P Studios in Mexico City, and mixing by the hand of Steffen Franz (Stand Out Selector) in Strong Foundation Studios, in San Francisco, California and mastering in Pyramid Studio by Greg Gordon and Stand Out Selector. This album features the collaboration of groups and musicians such as: Ramón Gutierrez, from the famous traditional son jarocho band, Son de Madera; The voice of the Jazsz singer, Iraida Noriega; the producer and singer Dr Mayal, the raper, Spia 104, among others. This is an album characterized by many nuances of emotion, and fusion with mexican popular music, with the root of reggae mixed with a taste of the jazz, funk, indú and ska traditional, which reflect the growth and maturity of a group that has not strayed from their intention of seeking both within themselves and in the undulating rhythms of reggae music to achieve a form of self-expression that also communicates their positive message to a public that is avid for new sounds.

The Rastrillos have carried reggae's positive vibrations throughout Mexico, sharing the stage with great performers such as: Black Uhuru, Jimmy Cliff and Inner Circle (Jamaica); Alpha Blondy (Ivory Coast); Pato Banton (Great Britain); Cultura ProfŽtica and Soul Rebels (Puerto Rico); Los Cafres and Los Pericos (Argentina); Desorden Pœblico, 800 Reggae and Onice (Venezuela); Maldita Vecindad, Santa Sabina, La Casta–eda,



Guillermo Vel‡zquez y Los Leones de la Sierra Xich and many other groups from the Latino American and Mexican music scene.
In 2002 Rastrillos made a tour to the British Colombia in Canada playing as an opening band for Linton Kwesi Johnson, at the Coomodore Ball Room in Vancouver.
