"We Are Here" is an emotionally gripping and effectively evocative classic rock protest song. The subject matter--a generation's promise to bring about social change, its successes and disappointments--is a refreshing change from so much of what makes the charts and trends on the socials these days. TJ and the Band absolutely crush the performances, sonics, and the recording. The guitar-centric band slams with heartfelt intensity and totally sells the messages that the song intends to convey. The chorus sings, "We Are Here, We Are Here.... Raise your arms into the air." We can see an entire arena of fans, and possibly a whole world of followers, following along. Feelin' it, guys. Right on.
Artist's Submitted Question:
Hello A.J. "We Are Here" is an live audience anthem favorite from my 2nd album. I'm looking for the right producer for the 3rd. Thank you for listening. TJ
Good stuff, TJ. Glad to hear somebody writing and singing about something these days besides getting laid or knocking back shots in the bar ;-) The whole song hangs together great--seriously, you and the band totally sell the intensity of the underlying emotion. If there's a place I think you could bring it up a notch, it would be in turning the lost and desperate feel in the verses into a more definitive, positive place that the chorus points to. You set the premise up great in verse 1; and then you deliver the promise in the chorus (not surprised you get a great audience reaction, I can see the whole arena waving arms and lighter/phones along with you there!). Take the "We Are Here" to the next level--and consider a verse 2 (and possibly a bridge/last pre-chorus) that inspires us a little more with some ideas of what you might really do. Coming back to "There are so many of us that feel lost" in V.2 reiterates what you've established in V.1. Little more positivity there will really lead nicely into chorus 2, and out from there--and possibly point the way to the kind of social changes you'd like to see, and inspire people to share. As for a producer for this, I'm hearing the Americana/rock direction leaning in the direction of a T-Bone Burnett or somebody like him.
