I have to say this is a very hard song to review. In a way I see what you are going for and in that essence this may be a very successful cut you sent to me. Yes I believe it will work with smooth jazz Radio. is it licensable? it may be but there are so many songs in this genre exactly like this.so whose song does one choose?
yes you got the formula down, yes it's tight but it is not very unique and doesn't separate you from everybody else who is doing the same thing. It's almost like the invisible artist is playing that doesn't really have a personality but just blends in with everything else. The track is very well done no doubt but the melody really has no real uniqueness to grab me. It is melody that any number of SJ players could come up with and is very formula. I have the feeling there is more to you that just a simple redundant melody. You have to explore the melody more to get out of something that will grab people. However if it is your goal for this to be background music at the mall, retail setting like you have asked i would have to say that for that it could work. It can also work for SJ radio. I don't know about film or TV. I would think a film supervisor has their choice of 100 other songs like this. I know I'm being tough but I feel you have the talent to create something much more compelling with the talent that I have heard on this track-You could have done a lot more with the melody because in the end we live forever with the music we create
Artist's Submitted Question:
Hi Jason, I'm interested in hearing your take on this song. Do you think it has potential for film/tv/radio use? Or do you think it would be better suited as a background piece in a retail setting? Thank you for your time.
