As the 2008 6-Pack Songwriting Competition nears completion in the next two weeks, lots of new entries are coming in. Our current leader, Bobby Caputo has contested for the title every year, and has built a solid lead in this challenge. As Bobby can attest, nothing is for certain in the 6-Pack until the end. He is currently being challenged by defending champion Maragaret McClure, and two-time champion Liz Miller is lurking in the Top 10 as well.

Although the leaderboard is filled with some veterans of the 6-Pack, there are many new faces as well. In fact, 10 of the Top 20 entrants are new to the 6-Pack this year. The current Top 20 includes artists from Bulgaria, Canada, France, the United Kingdom and United States. Several genres are represented including Pop, Country, Rap, R& B, Rock, Unique and one unknown.

From a level of difficulty perspective, this year has also been the most challenging 6-Pack to date. We always try to make the contest harder as the competition progresses. The first two challenges are relatively easy compared to the others. Numbers 3 and 4 get a little tougher, requiring a rap song and a fictitious commercial. Challenges 5 & 6 have been the toughest challenges to date. In 5, you must write the music to one of 5 lyrics that are posted. In 6, your song must contain at least two different languages. Although these last two are the toughest, they have produced some fantastic, imaginative and high-quality music.

As most of you know, to review entries, one must be an entrant into the contest or a premium member of Broadjam. The leaderboard is updated 24 times a day and can change dramatically from update-to-update. Remember, all songs will get approximately the same number of reviews by the time the final bell rings on December 9th.

You can enter up until the last day, which is November 16th for the first challenge and November 21st for the last one. So get your best stuff entered as we have a record total of $85,000 in prizes to give away and it's still not too late to get in on the action.

On a personal note, you all should know that as I listen to the leaderboard entries, I am consistently blown away by the talent. To everyone who has entered, thanks for providing great music for us and the millions of Broadjam visitors to enjoy. Your music is what keeps us motivated to provide the very best services to independent musicians on the web. But most importantly, your music is what drives each other and pushes the creative process to places you may have never been before.
