Bio

I started playing upright bass in my third year of college and then transfered to North Texas the next year and studied jazz performance and education. I then relocated to Baton Rouge, LA and there had the opportunity to play with Alvin Batiste, Wessel Anderson, and Delfeayo Marsalis. In 1994, I joined the United States Marine Corps and played in the Marine Band where I learned electric bass. Following my detatchment, I toured with a regional touring act, furthering my commitment to bass guitar. I am now located in Philadelphia, PA and play both upright and bass guitar regionally with my trio, the Michael Oughton 3.
