The band derivate from "El Simio Juanito", an alternative cover band formed in late '96 formed by Luis Barrio on vocals and Bass, Ricky Martinez on Drums and Arturo Contreras on Guitars.With very "Grunge" influences such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam they played on several local venues on their natal Chihuahua Mexico. On February of 2000 they began to feel that something was missing on their band and they invited Lucy Medina, a very talented singer influenced by his favorite artist Alanis Morissette to join the band.At this time Luis Begin to felt that he was better on guitar and he invited Misael DeLeon to join the band too as the Bass player.They continued to play covers but at that time Ricky left the band to join "Rice and Beans" a local ska band.The band was pretty devastaded.Luis became the band's drummer for a few months until Marco Zendejas fill in as the new drummer.At this time the band wasn't as grunge as the beggining and Lucy decide to quit the band because of personal problems.Luis began to feel that the band was nowhere and he was tired of cover songs so he put out a proyect called "Merlina" with Misael and former drummer Ricky,they release a two song single on August '01.
Once again they felt that something was missing and decided to invite Lucy to be the band's singer.
The band's name now is "Merlina Ricci" and they are currently working on their first album with no title yet.
