Melanie Johnson is a Lexington-based musician who Lexington's ACE Weekly describes as "the epitome of the singer/songwriter, performing songs on guitar that are thoughtful and well written. She is lyrically thought provoking and weaves her lyrics beautifully over a series of complex, yet catchy chord progressions and arpeggios." . Her influences-- Aimee Mann, BareNaked Ladies, 60's pop and modern rock--are all evident in her songs. Micheal Laskow, founder of TAXI, has called her voice "radio ready and memorable" and her song "House of Beauty" "right on the money....make it longer (I wanted more) ". Her songs are played regularly on WUKY, and she performs solo and with her band, ClockRadio. She was chosen to perform at the MIdwest Music Conference in Lexington, the Master Musicians Festival in Somerset, KY, and the 2005 Mamapalooza Festival in Nashville. She is also performing at Sunday writer's nights at The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville.
