"This is humming music, folks... this is sit in your driveway and wait for the song to end music..." --Thomasine Foss

Not that the Atlanta singer/songwriter scene had quite gotten its fill of girls with insanely good voices performing quality original songs on the piano, but Meghan Coffee wanted more. She dreamed of joining the ranks of singer/songwriters such as Joseph Arthur and Aimee Mann but with the sounds of bands such as Doves and Coldplay. A mixture of poprock, folkadelica with a hint of a musical, Meghan’s visual lyrics and unforgettable melodies have been described by fans as, “mesmerizing” and “soulful”. A gifted solo artist, she also has a band as well, “the band of Brethren”. Meghan has spent the past few years winning over the ears and hearts of the Atlanta locals with her unique voice and charismatic presence. Now, with her soon to be released EP, she is poised to win over more than just her lovely city but everywhere she can play coast to coast.

Cinema Eyes

Cinema Eyes

Oh she says she could be in control
Oh she knows she has nothing left to give again
Oh she lies with more than just that smile
She's not that okay, not that fine

She hides her secret, hides herself
She hides her secret, hides herself

Oh she knows she can learn how to trust
Oh she knows she is asking for too much again
Oh she dies to more than her denial
She might be okay, might be fine

Bridge

She's got a heavenly vibe
She has those cinema eyes
the kind in black and white
a pretty girl in moments yet never, never quite right.

Dive

Dive (in the living room)

Slow down wave making
heart-breaking man
Sleep tight moonlight eyes
I wish that I could keep you here.

I'll seek you out always in a room
I'll know where you are until I die

(Do you feel the same way?)

Step up joy making
breath-taking man
Spot light the compromise
I hope that we can keep it up

I'll seek you out always in a room
I'll know where you are until I die
Dive on in, why are you so cautious dear?
I know that you love me more than you can express

(Oh I feel the same way)

Tell it on the Mountain

Tell it on the Mountian

Everytime I call your name out loud
Everytime I try to figure you out
Everytime I feel you pass my way
You bring me to my knees Ancient of Days

I see how blind I've been
I feel life restored to me again

Everytime I speak your name in doubt
Everytime I try to figure it out
Everytime I want my life, my way
You show me all your love Ancient of Days

(CH)

Go, tell it on the rooftops
tell it on the skyscrapers
Go, tell it on the steeples
tell it on the mountain...

Bio

Not that the acoustic singer/songwriter scene had quite gotten its fill of girls with insanely good voices performing quality original songs on the piano (or keyboard, as lugging the old Steinway up the Eddie’s Attic stairs was getting to be a bit much), but Meghan Coffee wanted more. She dreamed of holding her own in the ranks of singer/songwriters such as Joseph Arthur and Aimee Mann, Ben Kweller and Jonatha Brooke but with the sounds of bands such as Doves, Radiohead and Coldplay. Encompassing something in between poprock, folkadelica and little bit of Brpadway, Meghan’s whimsical, visual lyrics and unforgettable melodies have been described by fans as, “mesmerizing” and “soulful”. A gifted solo artist, she also can front a band as well and has a roster of talented musicians to play with her, aptly named “the band of Brethren”. Having lived in Atlanta since she was five years old, Meghan Coffee has spent the past few years winning over the hearts and ears of the locals with her unique voice and charismatic presence. Now, with her soon to be released EP, Cinema Eyes, she is poised to win over more than just the lovely city of Atlanta but everywhere she can play coast to coast.

Growing up as the oldest of four with theatre and music loving parents (they once owned a theatre company) and being homeschooled gave Meghan very different life experiences than most kids her age. When she was eight a friend gave her family an old piano and Meghan began writing her own little songs right away; her influences being what she heard on the record player, the Beatles and Billy Joel, the Moody Blues and Paul Simon, and, of course, the songs of Broadway. It wasn’t until the death of her mother, when Meghan was thirteen, that she began to pour out everything that had been poured into her and really express herself through music . It was during her teenage years that her gift for songwriting really began to emerge. The loss of her mother and her childhood still sometimes weaves in and out of her songs to this day.

Meghan Coffee is a mother herself now and stays up till the wee hours of the morning, after her son is in bed, to try and capture the melodies in her head. Trying to keep the whole Cinema Eyes project under wraps at first (needing some time in the laboratory to be certain of the experiment), she suddenly found herself playing major local venues. Now, several months and more than a few stunning original songs later, the next circle of rock and roll beckons. The girl and her piano (damn that Steinway) respond, and the band of Brethren are armed and ready.
