I'm a 22 year old singer songwriter. Lately I've been writing songs with lots a great people in Los Angeles and Nashville. I've got a few songs that I co-wrote with Shawn Mullins that are coming out on his next record. Lately I've been real busy playing shows around my home town too. In the near future I plan to make my own indie record as apposed to waiting on a phone call in la la land. Some say my songwriting is genre inconsistent because I write blues and folk and rock stuff. The only songs I write that they like in LA are my modern rock ones so that's why they're the ones that are produced so well. But if you find me elsewhere you might catch me playing some Townes Van Zandt or some John Prine. I Hope you enjoy what you hear.
Cheers!

My really old outdated Bio

Passion is the force driving people to chase their dreams and emotion is how they try to make sense of the world. Max Gomez combines both inside thoughtful, rustic songs delivered with laid-back charm. His raspy yet cautious voice at once evokes the spirits of Johnny Cash, Robert Johnson, and Eric Clapton. Gomez cut his teeth as a teen playing country shows around New Mexico, often rousing an ambivalent crowd into broken beer bottle frenzy through riveting Johnny Cash covers.

Max Gomez grew up in the southwest near Santa Fe, NM, raised on a steady diet of John Prine records. When he was 10, Max was given an acoustic guitar for Christmas. Soon after, his older brother introduced him to B.B. King and his musical path was set.

While in High School, Max began to sing to accompany his playing, and quickly, he was urged to the stage by venue owners and fans alike. "Back home, the only shows with big audiences were country shows so I had to please the crowds," Gomez recalls. Max found that repertoire by artists such as Johhny Cash and Hank Williams worked well for these country folk, and through learning these songs, they became as profound an influence on his musical identity as Eric Clapton & Muddy Waters.

After High School, Max left his desert home, making his way to Hollywood in 2005. Showing up with little more than a guitar case and a dream, he attended the Musician's Institute, pursuing work in the Recording Artist's Program while also dedicating four to five hours a day learning to play Robert Johnson records.

Max Gomez has played all over Los Angeles, scoring gigs at legendary venues such as The Whiskey A Go Go, The Cat Club, B.B. King's Blue Club, and Molly Malone's. On top of performing, Max has done studio guitar work and recorded with Multi-Grammy Winning producers Eric Valentine (Nickelcreek, Maroon 5) and Damon Elliot (Willie Nelson, Ziggy Marley). He recently shared the stage with A-List studio musician and close friend Scott Bennett, current musical director for Brian Wilson.
