What does it sound like?
Songs about love, loss and the usual entanglements in a modern singer/songwriter style (Eels, Aimee Mann) combined with a 60s/70s influenced symphonic pop sound (Beatles, ELO, Elton John).

Who’s on the album?
The band consists of a rock quartet (piano, guitar, bass, drums) paired with an orchestral section (cello, viola, violin, french horn). The musicians all live in Los Angeles, and among them have recorded or performed with Scott Weiland, Brian Wilson, Cirque du Soleil, Arthur Lee and Love, Brad Mehldau, Super Diamond, Queens of the Stone Age, and Zwan. The MBO string section toured with the Eels this summer.

Why?
“I remember riding in my parents’ car and hearing “Philadelphia Freedom” for the first time. I always loved that lush orchestral pop sound and it never really came back after that. So this band is my effort to revisit that sound, but in an updated way.”
