Singer songwriter Matt Estel spends his days with a guitar and keyboard, carefully crafting his music. With eyes closed he soulfully sings of God, faith, love, life, and death. Whether playing to 200 people in church on a Sunday morning, to 45 in a bar on a Friday night, or to God alone in his bedroom, the heartfelt performance remains the same. Often compared to Dave Matthews, Counting Crows, Jars of Clay, or Derek Webb; Matt’s influences can be heard in his self produced debut album The Ballad of Life.
God is a central influence on Matt’s life, as well as an influence on his music. During his formative years, Matt found himself sitting on a wooden church pew every Sunday, taking every word to heart and strengthening his faith. Whether Matt is singing a lullaby to his love in “Goodnight, Darling, Goodnight” or is asking Christians to step out in faith, in the E-bow driven romp, “Faith,” his performance resonates with emotion and his lyrics touch the soul of the listeners.
