Mark Zapata grew up listening to classic punk rock bands such as The Clash, Dead Kennedys and The Ramones as well as watching the Ecuadorian punk rock scene transform throughout the years. Forming numerous bands during his teenage years, his musical influences expanded to new genres and styles. As a devoted performer he found interest in creating "theme" bands such as Psychobilly or Surf Rock bands and played guitar and sang as a member of many bands of different genres such as Distrito Funk (Funk, Rap), 4B (Jazz, Psychedelic, Alternative Rock), Long Ride (Hard Rock, Metal) and Jail House Rockers (Rock'n'Roll, Counrty).

Mark Zapata's interest in constantly learning how to play new genres of music has formed an original and distinct sound for his music. With Latin roots, a funky soul, punk attitude, sprinkled with rockabilly swagger, Mark plays upbeat tunes with lyrics that refer to heavy yet relatable street smart subject matter with a slightly cynical sense of humor.

He has performed live on television (TV Show Original Classics with band Jail House Rockers), has been featured on local newspapers and magazines (Such as "El Comercio" and "Indiependiente" with Distrito Funk), has been featured and interviewed on national radio (Radio "La Metro" with Distrito Funk) And played numerous shows with many bands and as a solo act as well. In Canada he scored the Music for the cartoon "Ape-Prentice" (Directed by Adrian Tulving-Blais) and for the independent short film "Dirty Work" (Created by Seneca college students). Studied Independent Music Production at Seneca College and has performed as a solo artist and session played in venues around Toronto.
