Mark Scholl – Drums / Keyboards / Composer

Mark started a diverse musical career performing with local Big Bands, Funk & R&B bands, various size jazz groups and became a regular featured performer for three seasons with the Winnipeg Symphony. Mark had an invitation to move to Los Angeles where he played drums for Barry Manilow for 11 years. The work with Barry also included numerous national and international television appearances on the Tonight Show, Arsenio Hall, The Today Show, Leeza Gibbons Show, Donny & Marie, Entertainment Tonight, Good Morning America to name a few as well as several live in concert DVDs.
Mark, with keyboardist Wally Minko, put together their own smooth jazz group and created “The Power Of Two” which recorded a CD currently available through iTunes.
Mark is a very successful composer and continues to write and record for all kinds of different situations ranging from TV shows, films, video and casino games as well as commercials.

Mark Scholl – Drums / Keyboards / Composer

Mark grew up in Winnipeg Canada where he started playing drums at the age of 10. After attending Music College, Mark started a diverse musical career performing with local Big Bands, Funk & R&B bands, various size jazz groups and became a regular featured performer for three seasons with the Winnipeg Symphony. Mark also started his career as a composer having written a number of jazz fusion compositions that he performed live as well as on local TV and radio shows. After a few very successful years on the Winnipeg music scene, Mark had an invitation to move to Los Angeles. Soon after his arrival he got called to audition for pop superstar Barry Manilow. He got the job and went on to tour world wide with Barry for 11 years. The work with Barry also included numerous national and international television appearances on the Tonight Show, Arsenio Hall, The Today Show, Leeza Gibbons Show, Donny & Marie, Entertainment Tonight, Good Morning America to name a few as well as several live in concert DVDs.
In addition to his touring work with Barry, Mark performed with Andrew Loydd Webber’s “Music of the Night” as well as becoming musical director and drummer for American Idol runner up Kimberley Locke. Mark’s composition career also continued to evolve to include a jazz CD entitled “Mark Scholl and the Screaming Tigers” Several of Los Angeles’ best musicians were involved in this CD (Eric Marienthal – from Chick Corea’s bands, Lee Thornburg – Tonight Show, Tower of Power, Nick Lane – Maynard Ferguson, Chicago, The Who) Through his continued friendship with Wally Minko which started in the first year Mark worked with Barry, the two decided to put together their own smooth jazz writing project and “The Power Of Two” was created.

Mark is married and lives with his wife Robbin on a 40 acre ranch in Northern Nevada where happily they take care of their huge family of eight dogs.


Wally Minko – Keyboards / Composer

Wally grew up in Akron Ohio. Wally played a number of instruments at a fairly young age but piano was where his true strength became apparent. After playing with various groups in the Ohio area, Wally moved his way west towards California. Shortly after his arrival in Los Angeles he started working with Jazz Violist Jean Luc Ponty. Wally toured and recorded with Jean Luc. After Jean Luc returned to Paris to pursue other musical interests, Wally auditioned for the Barry Manilow Show Stoppers Tour. Wally toured with Barry for the one year tour. After the Show Stoppers tour Wally received an invitation to tour with another superstar artist - Tom Jones. He went on to tour with Tom for 5 years which included world wide performances as well as television. Following Wally’s work with Tom – he went on to tour with various groups from Expose to EnVogue and is currently working with Greg Rollie from Santana and Journey fame.
Wally continues to live in Los Angeles and takes care of a wide assortment of animals from dogs to birds to turtles.
