A little background...

Kyle Petersen has shared the stage, ideas and musical interactions with many a performer and theater maker in his 23 years on this earth. From as young as four years old, his then tiny fingers would naturally find their way to the ebony and ivory of the piano.
Not many 23-year-olds are able to boast accomplishments that this young go-getter can.
His talents range from shows that he helped to conceive such as That Crazy Little Thing and That Crazy Little Thing 2 (both of which he also musically directed) to Footsteps to Freedom - a show yet to hit the Theatre@thepavilion stage in December. But it is Kyle's involvement in musical theater since 1994 at Artscape that gave rise to his love and passion for the arts. He performed in operas like La Boheme, Tosca and Evita, to name but a few. His solo career saw him as a soloist, performing with the Cape Philharmonic and even took him to sea, on cruise ship where he performed as part of a quartet in the show lounge of the Olympia Countess.
His numerous collaborations with Mike McCullagh had Kyle very busy with shows such as 80-something, Milestones to the Millennium and Myths and Legends - shows that ran to capacity houses, and in which he has not only showed off his obvious piano skills but helped with musical direction as well as perform as solo vocalist. Of late, he also worked with Duck Chowles on his acclaimed Celtic Rock venture, which also ran to capacity houses.
He also performs with Zenith and performs and arranges music for Bastille, two very different bands and with yet another band, Pentagone, went on to win 2004 battle of the bands competition at Dockside.
His involvement and passion for music has never diminished over the years, and as such he is fast becoming one of the more respected young musicians who gets entrusted with big professional projects. He has played in practically all the major theaters both locally and nationally and has graced many a fringe venue and festival stage with his musical gifts.
