Bio

The bad boy two fisted aggression of Aerosmith infests a nation. James Taylor’s poignant stories warm and challenge the hearts of millions. The roar of Jimmy Page’s guitar coupled with the mysticism of Robert Plant’s lyrics invite the masses to embark on an amazing journey. Bruce Springsteen paints the landscape of America’s working class heritage while the poetic rage of Patti Smith calls the nation to conscience. What’s next? King Junk.

Hailing from Boston, the three members of the band King Junk adjoin the divergent paths of their lives to answer the call for honest, passionate, aggressive rock music skillfully played and sung from the heart. With songs ranging in theme from the alluring danger of a darkened street corner to the agony of lost love, King Junk writes of the heart’s struggle, it’s triumph, and also it’s capacity for utter darkness.

The story of King Junk begins in the spring of 1996 when a guitarist schooled in jazz and modern classical music got hold of a tape made by two brothers in Lexington Massachusetts. This tape containing original songs performed by Dan and Joe Dougherty inspired Thom Cox to not only get back to his rock roots but to find these two brothers and form a band.

Early musical explorations took the form of covers of songs by Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, and The Black Crowes. The band would search for its identity through experimentation with synthesizers
