Born in Saint Louis, Missouri, Kelvin Fairfax played bass guitar in various R&B bands until he entered the Army. Then after a considerable hiatus and with the encouragement of his wife, Jeanette, who has always inspired all of his lyrics, he and his brother-in-law guitarist Oscar Beverly, went into the studio to work with producer Derek Wille in September of 2003 to begin recording some of their R&B music. Then in December 2004, Kelvin committed himself to serving the Lord. This new direction influenced Kelvin to write his first gospel song, "God's Love (Ain't No Coincidence)" in February 2005 and he hasn't stopped writing gospel songs since. Kelvin is presently a member of the Praise Team at Word of the Truth Christian Ministries led by Pastor Isiah Speller, in
Stafford, Virginia.
God's Gift
I used to write romantic R&B music. I could just think of something to write about and then create it. My gospel music is sent to me sometimes in the middle of the day or middle of the night. I can not pick a topic and then begin to write about it. I have tried to do it and it doesn't work. So this is truly the power of God through his holy spirit and the gift that he has given me to glorify him. He gives us all a gift and its purpose is to glorify him. I am thankful to have recognized the gift he has given to me, and can use it to spread his word to others like me.
When I am feeling God's spirit, lyrics and melodies fill my heart and mind. They say if songs have an annoiting, God will make it do what it do.
Testify Till I Die
I believe that while we are here are earth, our purpose is to glorify God, love all others as he loves us, spread his word, and help those who are less fortunate than us. God has given me a gift to write songs, and I intend do everything possible to expand this gift in spreading his word and glorifying his name. We are not here to judge others. We are all sinners. I marvel at the number of people who talk about who is not annoited and who is not; who feels the spirit and who does not; and who acts saved and who does not. Mankind is not the determiner of who is spiritual and who isn't. Man is not the judge of who is righteous and who is not. May this music be an example to those who are striving to serve the Lord.
Life's Mission
My mission is to spread the word of God through my music to as many people as possible and give spiritually and donate to those causes that help mankind to help themselves. Everything we have accomplished is because of him, and all that we possess, we possess because God has allowed us to keep it, because he could take it at any time. This is all for his Glory.
