Johnny cut his teeth right out of school with former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor as the singer and keyboard player in his touring band. Yes, Johnny has been blind since he was 17. Since then, he has bruised his legs and his forehead on numerous stages across the North American continent and around the world, gigging, recording, producing, and even winning an Emmy Award.
Currently, Johnny performs both in his rockband, Bloodroot, and solo acoustic rock as Johnny Young. The band won the JPF Best Hard Rock Song award in 2000 and Best Hard Rock Album award in 2001, and came in 2nd in 2002. They showcased at the Global Entertainment and media summit and have an ever growing street team. The band released an EP and a full length album is expected in early 2004. Meanwhile, Johnny returned in May 2003 from a successful solo acoustic tour around England, selling piles of cds. He showcased at 2NMC in September playing every night, rockin the house.

Based in Brooklyn,NYC, Johnny performs in his hard rock power trio, Bloodroot, in Rubric Records band Kreisor, and solo acoustic rock as Johnny Young. The band won the JPF Best Hard Rock Song award in 2000 and Best Hard Rock Album award in 2001, and came in 2nd in 2002. They showcased at the Global Entertainment and media summit and have an ever growing street team. Both Bloodroot and Kreisor will be releasing albums early in 2005. Meanwhile, Johnny showcased at 2NMC,CMJ, and returned in May from a successful solo acoustic tour around England, selling piles of cds.
