BIO OF JERMEL J.DOT GARLAND

Entrepreneur, Producer, D.J., Lover of Music, and a Figure Skater are rare qualities combined for a young man of todays time. But the truth is these characteristics are what make up Jermel Garland. The common thread amongst these qualities is the passion for music. After one conversation with this young man, one will walk away realizing Jermels ambition to be a successful innovator in the entertainment industry. At a young age Jermel realized that his purpose in life would revolve around music. Although, becoming both a successful figure skater and producer were mediums to express his passion for music, they are opposite yet complimentary to whom Jermel is. The awakening to the power of what one can do with music, first began when Mr. Garlands late grandmother brought him his first set of turn tables. One thing led to another; once Jermel learned how to dj, he desired to learn how to produce music. Like many students of their craft. Jermel studied other successful producers who blazed the trial before him, such as Timberland,Just Blaze, Dr. Dre and Kanye West.During Jermels beginning stages, he had the opportunity to produce tracks for commercials. Some projects included: a track for Costume Motorcycles and Pepsi. After graduating from high school, Jermel furthered his education in music business by attending one of the top fine art colleges in the country, Columbia College Chicago. From day one, he chose to challenge himself to apply what he was taught in the classroom to the real world. His choice to seize every opportunity that was presented landed him three internships at music studios. From interning at Rosehip studio, Trendsetter Studio, and Young Buck Studio, Jermel sharpened his skills of producing and also learned how to engineer; not only did he begin to understand how to create but he learned vital business skills of managing, marketing and promotions. In order for Jermel to continue to sharpen his business and creative skills, he chose to exercise all that he knew by working with artists such as, Karine, Spreeisreal, Chibilzz, Bishop, Barry b, Rj young, Bullet, Doe Boy, Reality, Punk Rock, Curtis Born, Cyriaque ,form South Africa, and Roll Bounce Actor Ricky Gonzalez. While being at Columbia College of Chicago, Jermel accomplished several things such as: starting his own company, K&J Production Co, with his partner Kardell Woodsoon. In addition, he was apart of the motion picture, which featured rapper Bow Wow, Roll Bounce , where he was able to both showcase his leadership quality of choreographing as well as roller-skating. In addition to this highlight in Jermels career, he presently tours the United States with the World Renown UniverSoul Circus as a Performer, Music Producer and an Arranger for the show. Having all this under his belt at just the tender age of 21, ensures the fact that this young man is destined for more monumental (innovative) accomplishments. Jermel states that his ultimate goal is to make music that makes a difference, as well as having staying power. It is easy to make a buck, but it is harder to make a difference. This statement demonstrates his drive, determination and ambition to be an innovator in the entertainment industry. He is a well rounded individual, who plans to make a difference in the world by expressing himself through music.
