BIO

JULIAN WILLIAMS

Julian Williams, a true artist in the jazz genre is doing what he does best. Growing up in Detroit, arguably the music capital of the world, was an asset to his musical gift. When he was twelve years old, he started playing drums and keyboards. ?As most young boys, the sounds of the drums were fascinating, somewhat overwhelming. The melodic sounds of the keys were pretty and powerful to me, ? says Julian.

Julian loved the Motown Sound, but the genius music from The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, would arouse him to the highest level. James Brown had a hit ballad; It?s A Man?s World. That song was an anthem to many, but the ?B? side would change the direction of this young and talented musician. ?I heard something so intriguing and different. The sound of that guitar lick moved me and gave me a fantasy of performing on stage, ? remarks Julian. That day changed Julian Williams as a musician, solidified his destiny, and cemented him as a lead guitarist. Becoming an exceptional guitarist, coupled with his unforgotten skills as a drummer and keyboard player, Julian became a multi-facetted artist. As an artist he was interested in writing and producing, and to no surprise, he was very good at that too.

With the positive attributes of dedication, determination and desire, Julian followed his heart and moved to Los Angeles, the city of entertainment, deals, and dreams. Los Angeles was good for him, and he gained the experience and knowledge he needed to later become an entrepreneur. Julian lived in Los Angeles for a few years and made his rounds as a musician, songwriter and producer. Ironically, Berry Gordy, the creative force of Detroit?s MOTOWN, was now in Los Angeles. Julian had an opportunity to audition for Mr. Gordy as a musician and songwriter. He did not become a link of the music legacy and dynasty, but he learned an invaluable lesson. With this lesson he also found a newfound spirituality that was welcome and needed.

?I needed a new beginning with a new foundation. I wanted peaceful surroundings to create greatness and express truthfulness?, says a serene Julian. Phoenix symbolizes a rising bird, and when Julian moved there, he rose to a level that would forever be a part of him. He has always been exposed to all types of music and had an appreciation of most. R&B was easy to play, but Jazz was complex and inviting. Jazz called his name, and Julian reached out to it and allowed it to embrace his soul.

Julian Williams is the founder of Ariel, a band of dynamic musicians who appreciate music and love what they do. ?Lion of GOD? is the Hebrew meaning of Ariel. Music is powerful like the Lion, and GOD has blessed Julian with a talent and a meaningful concept.

He admires the phenomenal talent of guitarists Wes Montgomery and Jimi Hendrix. These men are synonymous with greatness and diligence, and have infinite respect from this ever-growing musician.

Julian Williams is an artist who listens with intensity and learns eagerly. A Lion, a musician, and a man, who has rose, like the Phoenix. Julian is on a continuous flight like that bird and his landing will be Victorious.
