Gene began his musical career in the late 1950s as a (very) young folksinger in Boston and went on to play in rock bands through high-school and college in the 60s and 70s. Then, a sense of practicality and an interest in science led him to medicine, and he gave up music for most of medical school and surgical training. After a several decade hiatus for a career in academic surgery at the University of Washington, Gene is returning to his musical roots as a singer/songwriter.

Gene’s first studio CD - One Good Day - contains 7 original and 3 unique cover songs, written and produced in a style reminiscent of James Taylor and acoustic Paul Simon.

REVIEW OF "ONE GOOD DAY"
IN VICTORY REVIEW, ACOUSTIC MUSIC MAGAZINE, SEPTEMBER 2006

“Zierler has a mellow sound that lets his poignant observations come through. He’s affable without being silly, humble without being self-deprecating, and herein lies the record’s strength: We, too, can make it through life’s rough spots and moments of doubt and loss.”
