BIOGRAPHY

Feritta is NOT your typical artist. While her two siblings studied engineering Feritta's dream was always to connect with people and make a difference in the lives of others. While most of today's stars have parents that drive and encourage their child's creative talents that was not the case for little Feritta. Despite this, she displayed a talent for performing at a young age enjoying at the least opportunity to sing in class choirs and at the tender age eleven she was awarded a scholarship to study the clarinet which she played for two years.

High school was a tough place for a girl who didn't quite fit in and playing music fell into the background as her parents wanted her focus on academics. It was difficult trying to be a normal "Aussie" teenager and trying to please her traditional, Indian born parents.

University followed and with it she completed a degree in business but Feritta's true passion was always music. During her time at university she felt compelled to begin vocal training and she did with Lucy D'Olimpio of Harmony School of Voice and Music.

Wanting more Feritta quickly learnt how fickle the music industry can be. when she signed to a record label who that went under after many months of hard work and a shocked Feritta had nothing to show for herself. It was a harsh blow and there was a growing tide of "friendly" advice telling her to give it all up and get a "real job".

Fate stepped in and she met with two UK writers and producers "Cube"- Dean Hopkins and Brian Highet.

Feritta recorded several tracks with Cube. "Boyfriend", which went to # 1 on the independent mp3.com.au music charts as well as performing their track "Be What U Wanna Be" in Melbourne, Australia, as a competition finalist out of over 150 acts in a national competition. Soon after this collaboration Cube disbanded.

Cube disbanding opened the door for Feritta allowing her to expand her skills from singer to professsional song writing and producing. Feritta and Hopkins continued to work together and their first collaboration, "Don't Tell Me That You're Sorry" reached #2 on the mp3.com.au charts and remained in the R&B top 20 for over a year!

Hopkins and Feritta continued to work together and the result was 'A Journey Begins' her debut album.

On the independent scene her music has seen her enjoy immense success. Years in and her music has still consistently performed on the USA Broadjam.com Charts. Her music has also been noticed on the Reverbnation.com charts.

Accolades and recognition have seen Feritta twice voted Best Female Solo Artist Australia in the International Music Aid Awards, she has received two WAMi nominations, been awarded for the Official Theme Song, "The Light" written, co-produced and performed by her for the 4th World Zoroastrian Youth Congress and received no less than three nominations in the Bite My Music Global Awards (2012) and the Dorab Manekshaw Award (2013) when she performed in Mumbai, India.

Feritta has also collaborated with renowned German Trance Producer Ronski Speed, UK's DJ and Radio Host - Bobby B, and USA/Desi Producer Kenz Desai. She has opened and MC'd for sold out shows alongside superstars Sonu Niggam and triple platinum award winning artist Pankaj Udhas, Internationl Producer and DJ Bally Sagoo to name a few.

2014 has been a big year for Feritta even if she has been a little 'behind-the-scenes'. Her entreprenuerial skills have seen Feritta launch not one but two new websites, Goddess by Feritta, an online site featuring bold jewelry, accessories, clothing and more and a new food blog aptly titled Eat In Style by Feritta which features amazing recipes, health tips, gift-giving ideas and more.

Feritta is working away on launching her own not-for-profit Be The Change Foundation dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those in need.
