  6. Broadjam’s Transmit function provides the ability to send your songs to any recipient via a web link. The recipient can download and/or stream the songs you select. You are in complete control of who receives your songs. This is a great service as it saves you money in CD production and shipping as it delivers the content in digital format.

To use the transmit function login to your account, drag your cursor over “Songs” in the navigation menu and click on “Transmit Songs.” Click the Transmit button on the following page, select the songs you would like to transmit and then you may e-mail them off to whom ever you choose, or you can copy and paste the link to use later. To turn on/off the free download function click Edit next to the Songs button. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and check or uncheck the “Allow song downloads on all song transmit” box.

  7. What is the direct web link to my Homepage? ^
  8. After joining Broadjam you can set up a direct link to your Artist Profile. You can specify this by logging into your account, placing your cursor over “Account Settings” and clicking on “My Artist Info.” On this page, you can personalize the URL for your Broadjam profile (provided it’s not already taken). Click submit when you’re done.

  9. How Do I change my profile photo? ^
  10. Login to your account. Place your cursor over “Photos” in the navigation menu and click on “Add/Edit My Photos.” To change which photo appears as your profile photo, click the house icon next to the photo of your choice. This can be changed at any time you’d like.

  11. What is the Latest News area used for? ^
  12. The Latest News area is used to update your fans on what is new with you or your band. This page can be accessed by placing your cursor over “Account Settings” and clicking on “My Artist Info.”

(Note: This area does not Sync to the News page on the hosted website of Primo MoB members. Use the Content Editors section to edit the News page on your website.)

  13. Why should I fill in the Artist Location Section? ^
  14. This will be displayed on the Home page of your profile. Also the selected State and Country will be associated to the songs in your Broadjam account. This information can be helpful when a visitor to the site is searching for songs by artist location.

  15. Why should I fill in the Artist Short Description Section? ^
  16. This is the intro bio information that visitors see when coming to your profile page. If you are a Primo MoB member hosting a website with Broadjam, the Artist short Description is the main text section on your Home page.

  17. How do I change the 3 songs on my Homepage? ^
  18. The three songs that appear on your artist profile Home page are the first three songs on your Songs page. To change what songs appear on your home page, login to your account, place your cursor over “Songs” in the navigation menu and click on “Add/Edit My Songs.” Then click the sort arrows on the right side of your song list and arrange your songs with your desired three songs at the top of the page. The dark arrows move the song to the top or bottom of the list. The light arrows move the song up or down the list one spot at a time.

    5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click “Submit.”
    6. Click the “Browse/Locate File” button and select the MP3 file you wish to upload.
    7. Click “Submit” and you’re done! Now just wait until the song is listed as “activated” on your song page.

After you’ve successfully uploaded your song, you’ll see the song’s status will be listed as “pending,” which means it’s currently waiting to be encoded. Most songs will be encoded within half an hour during non-peak upload periods, but could take longer under certain circumstances. Once it has been encoded, the status will change to “activated,” which means it is ready for use.

If your song is not activated within the estimated encoding times, please double check that your song file is a valid MP3, and then re-upload the song file to your Broadjam account. Also, please fee to contact us at customerservice@broadjam.com.

  25. How do I make my songs into MP3 files? ^
  26. There are several software programs you can use to convert you music to MP3 format, including iTunes and Windows Media Player. It would be best to run a web search to see if your other software is capable of making this conversion.

  27. Can I send you my songs for you to upload? ^
  28. Yes, you may mail us your album and we will encode your songs for you. There is, however, a fee involved for this, as it requires time on our part. The fee depends on your membership level and the fees are as follows:

    – Primo MoB - $1/song
    – Pro MoB - $1/song
    – MoB - $2/song
    – Mini MoB - $5/song

  29. How do I edit my song information? ^
  30. Login to your account. Place your cursor over “Songs” in the menu and click on “Add/Edit My Songs.” Locate the song in your list you’d like to edit and click the “edit” link below the title. Make the edits/additions you’d like and click on the “Submit” button at the bottom of the page. Your information will be updated instantly.

  31. How do I change the order of my songs? ^
  32. Login to your account, place your cursor over “Songs” in the navigation menu and click on “Add/Edit My Songs.” Then click the sort arrows on the right side of your song list and arrange your songs however you’d like. The dark arrows move the song to the top or bottom of the list. The light arrows move the song up or down the list one spot at a time. The three songs at the top of your list will appear on your Public Profile.

  33. How do I delete a song from my profile page? ^
  34. Login to your account, place your cursor over “Songs” in the navigation menu and click on “Add/Edit My Songs.” Click the “delete” link below the title of the song you’d like to delete.

*Please note – deleting a song is irreversible. Also, if you delete a song, you will also delete all data associated with the song, including licensing/contest submissions, reviews, statistics, etc.

If all you’re trying to do, however, is replace the song with a newer version of the same song, you don’t have to delete it. You can just click the “re-upload” link below the title and upload the newer MP3.

  35. What are the icons under the Status column for on the Songs Edit page? ^
  36. There are three features available under the Status column. The red “x” icon allows you to activate your songs for Peer-to-Peer Broadjam Review. When it is a green icon your song has been activated. The closed padlock symbol indicates your song is private or not visible on your Artist Profile. If the padlock is open (unlocked) then your song is visible on your Artist Profile. The “not free” means you song is not activated for Broadjam Free Songs section. If “free” appears, your song is activated for Broadjam Free Songs. A gold ‘$’ means your song is available for purchase on the Broadjam website.

  37. What does Activated (kbps) mean? ^
  38. Once your song has been encoded, the status will change to “activated,” which means it is ready for use. You’ll notice that the kbps (kilobytes per second) is also shown, which reflects the bit rate of the MP3 you just uploaded.

*Please note - To be able to sell your songs, they need to be uploaded at 192 kbps or higher. But aside from this, the bit rate has no bearing on the song’s accessibility.

  39. I don’t want my songs available to the public. Can they be hidden? ^
  40. Yes. Login to your account, place your cursor over “Songs” in the navigation menu and click on “Add/Edit My Songs.” Then click on the padlock icon under the Status column to the right of the song title you want to hide from the public. When the lock icon is closed (locked) the song will be hidden. Keep in mind, this will not affect the song’s accessibility for licensing opportunities or contests. Locking the song simply hides it from the general public, so don’t let that concern you.

  41. If my songs are hidden from the public can I submit them to Opportunities on the Broadjam website? ^
  42. Yes. You are able to submit a song, with the visibility turned off, to any Broadjam Opportunity.

  43. My songs won’t play. What should I do? ^
  44. There are many possible reasons why a song may not play. Check for the newest Flash Plug-in. Go to Adobe.com and download the newest version of Flash. Check your computer’s firewall settings. If you have a personal firewall installed on your computer you may want to try turning it down or off and see if that fixes the problem. If you are using a computer at a business they may have a firewall installed to block certain media like song streaming. Check your computer’s soundcard. Occasionally your sound card may become disabled. Check your computer settings and make sure you have a sound device enabled. Check your Internet connection Ports to make sure they are open. If none of these options have worked please contact Broadjam Customer Service and include the following information:

    • Computer Type (PC or Mac):
    • Operating System (XP, Vista, OSX, etc.):
    • Internet Browser and version (Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, etc.):
    • Internet Connection Speed (DSL, Cable, Dial-Up, etc.):
    • And include any error message you are receiving.

  45. Can someone steal my music? ^
  46. Broadjam does have a protected audio player that helps deter audio thieves from stealing your music. But please note, any audio playback is vulnerable for a person to capture, depending on how savvy the user is with computers or recording equipment. Most people do not go through the trouble of stealing unless it is really easy to do.

  47. How can I sell my songs? ^
  48. Login to your account, place your cursor over “Songs” in the navigation menu and click on “Add/Edit My Songs.” Click on the “Sell My Music” button. Look through the Downloads Brochure so that you understand how everything works. At the end of the brochure you can mark your songs for sale.

*Please note – your MP3s must be uploaded at 192kbps or higher in order to be sold (but this has nothing to do with Music Licensing submissions).

  49. After I’ve uploaded a song how long will it take before it can be played? ^
  50. Most songs will be encoded within half an hour during non-peak upload periods, but could take longer under certain circumstances. Once it has been encoded, the status will change to “activated,” which means it is ready for use.

If your song is not activated within a day, please double check that your song file is a valid MP3, and then re-upload the song file to your Broadjam account. Also, please fee to contact Broadjam Customer Service.

  51. How does someone see my song lyrics or song metadata? ^
  52. Any song name on Broadjam can be clicked on to see more information. Try clicking on a song name to see the metadata page.

  53. What are Review Credits? ^
  54. Review credits allow you to activate songs for the Broadjam peer review mechanism. One review credit will activate one song for the Broadjam peer review. To earn review credits you will need to complete a certain number of reviews based on your membership level. Go to the bottom of your Songs Edit page to learn how many reviews must be completed to receive a review credit. Check near the top of your Songs Edit page to view your available credits. Please note: The number of review credits you have earned does not correlate to the number of reviews your song will receive.

  55. I’ve added a song but never finished uploading it. Why has a song credit been used? ^
  56. A song credit has been used because a song has been added. Once you have entered in the name, time and genre for a song, a credit will be used. You can click on the Delete button to remove the unfinished song and get your credit back, or you can click on the Edit or Upload button next to the song and to add information and/or finish the upload process.

  57. How can I see my Songs page like a fan would see it? ^
  58. Login to your account, place your cursor over “Songs” in the navigation menu and click on “View My Songs.”

  59. How do I upload a Photo to my Profile? ^
  60. Login to your account, place your cursor over “Photos” in the navigation menu and click on “Add/Edit My Photos.” Click on the “Add New Photo” button and enter in your photo information. Next Browse/Choose the file on your computer. Then click on the Upload button. The photo should appear instantly in your account. Photos must be in a jpeg or gif file format. Photo dimensions must be between a minimum of 200 to a maximum of 400 pixels in width and a minimum of 200 to a maximum of 400 pixels in height. We recommend that you crop your photo to 400 X 260 pixels.

*Please note – there are pages of the website (like the Top 10 charts) that square off all photos to the same size. The portion of your photo that will be used is the center of photo, so keep that in mind.

  61. I don’t know how to re-size a photo. Can you help? ^
  62. You will have to use a Photo Editor (e.g. Paint, Adobe Photoshop, etc.) in order to format/re-size the photo to the correct dimensions. We suggest trying Irfanview (PC only) if you do not have a photo cropper on your computer. Photos must be in a jpeg or gif file format. Photo dimensions must be between a minimum of 200 to a maximum of 400 pixels in width and a minimum of 200 to a maximum of 400 pixels in height. We recommend that you crop your photo to 400 X 260. Please double check that your photo file is in this format.

  63. Can I send you my photos for you to upload? ^

  73. Can I turn the visibility of a photo off and still use it for my Home/Albums page? ^
  74. Yes. When an image is uploaded you can turn the visibility of the photo off but still use the image on your Albums page or Homepage. This way you don’t have the same photo in two areas.

  75. I added a photo but never finished uploading it? Why has a photo credit been used? ^
  76. A Photo credit has been used because photo information has been added. Once photo information has been added to your account, a credit is used regardless if you have completed image file upload or not. You can select the Delete button for the unfinished photo to get your credit back or you can select the Edit or Upload button next to that photo entry and finish the image upload process.

  77. I uploaded a photo but on my photos page it shows the “photo not available” image. Why? ^
  78. The image you are seeing is a Broadjam default photo. It means that your photo upload was not successful. Try uploading the photo again or contact Broadjam Customer Service for more assistance.

  181. What kind of security is in place to ensure the protection of my music? ^
  182. We have made it as difficult as possible for people to steal your music, while still offering your fans the flexibility of buying MP3’s. We play your music through our own secure Flash player, so they can’t use their own player to capture your music. There is nowhere on the website for someone to simply download your music without paying for it first (except if you marked a song for Broadjam Free Songs). Unfortunately, the Internet is an insecure medium, so there will always be ways for the most savvy users to copy your music. We feel the majority of our users don’t behave that way, however.

  183. I’ve tried to mark my song for sale, but the buy button will not appear. Why? ^
  184. If you’ve removed the song from the download store previously, you’ll need to contact Broadjam to have the song added to the download store. If the song hasn’t been removed previously, please contact Broadjam Customer Service.

  185. How do I make a song available for free? ^
  186. Songs need to be at least 192kbps in order to be made available for download. 188. First, login to your Broadjam account. Place your cursor over “Account Settings” in the navigation menu and click on “Upgrade Account.” Specify the membership you want (and choose the duration if necessary). Proceed with your payment information. If the transaction is successful, the upgrade will immediately be applied to your account.

  189. How and where do I upload music to the Broadjam web site? ^
  190. Once logged into your Broadjam account, place your cursor over the “Songs” item in the navigation menu and select the “Add/Edit Songs” option. Then click “Add New Song” to start the process of adding music to your profile.

On the song metadata page, enter the all of the information about the song that you’d like. The top three fields are required (name, length and genre), but the rest are not. Once your information is entered, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Submit” button. On the following page, you’ll just need to browse your computer files and specify the MP3 file you’d like to upload. Click the “Submit” button once the file is selected.

Once you see the “success” message, your song will have been added to the encoding queue. Until the song is encoded, the status of the song will read “pending.” Once the encoding has been completed, the song will be activated and ready for use. The encoding time will depend on how many other songs are being encoded, but it generally takes up to 20 or 30 minutes. If it takes longer than a day, you may want to try re-uploading the song or contacting customer support.
