Who is Fall of the Albatross?

Formed in the Spring of 2007, Fall of the Albatross had begun as as a rebound for guitarists Harold McCummings and Colin Ruhwedel, formerly of the NYC's Death You Endure. After exchanging ideas and riffs, they decided it was time to "expand" these ideas. They would need a drummer.

In June 2007, Anthony Wong auditioned at Roxy Studios on the drums. It was obvious from that audition that Anthony was the drummer that Harold and Colin were looking for.

The three began writing songs and practicing at Roxy Studios, where they took interest in playing a style of music that falls somewhere between experimental metal, hardcore, and grindcore. Because of their unique style, they felt a unique name would best suit the band. Colin suggested the name Arrakis, but soon recommended a name change to Fall of the Albatross.

Once the trio had their first few songs, they began looking for a bassist. After a handful of auditions, they recruited a bassist named Ricky. This lineup would change two months later when Ricky decided to leave the band.

Harold, Colin, and Anthony continued writing, practicing and auditioning members. It was more than a year after the band was formed that the bassist they had been hoping for came along. Ramell Bass auditioned for the band after meeting drummer Anthony at a show. Ramell's energy, skill and attitude earned him a spot in FOTA, completing 4/5 of the lineup. The only thing the band needed now was a vocalist.

After a past experience with James, a former vocalist for the band, the band was having difficulty finding anyone willing to step up to the plate and do vocals. At this time, they band's prayers were answered when Gio Hernandez of NYC's well known band, Ismada, auditioned to be the vocalist of Fall of the Albatross. The boys of FOTA were very much pleased with his audition and recruited him to complete the lineup of the band.

With the odd rhythms and jazzy guitar playing of Harold, the speed solos and dissonant riffing of Colin, the sexy, melodic bass lines and energy of Ramell, the pummeling blast beats and fast double bass of Anthony, and the power and presence of Gio's voice, Fall of the Albatross is determined to move listeners through different emotions, to please their ears and at times make them hurt, without predictability or restrictions.
