Elizabethan Report in Los Angele

Our name is Elizabethan Report, and we come from Provo, Utah. We've been pretty successful. But recently, all the attention had really gotten to us. You couldn't go anywhere in Provo without someone recognizing you. So we thought, where can a band be totally anonymous?

Los Angeles.

Bands are everywhere here. Restaurants hire bands to hold down their kitchens. Board meetings are chaired by bands. They do people's landscaping. Taxis are even driven by bands (yup, all four band members in the front bench of the cab).

It's been great so far. Now when we meet people, they hardly ever get starry eyed when they hear we're in a band. When they hear about the early days, when Tony used to lick girls' faces while performing, they're hardly impressed. When we get to talking about playing the NAMU Festival with Bob Dylan, Gnarles Barkley and The Roots, we're met with the obligatory "cool, man." And when we talk about how we recently got a manager and decided to move to LA together, we get a blank stare, followed by something like, "Wow, that's a great breeze. You feel that?"

The one thing people still care about is "when's your next show?" People here are always looking to catch a good show. And if we don't have one within the next two weeks, they get really annoyed, because they know that by then, they'll have forgotten about us. But on the chance that we have a show in their town in the next two weeks, we've got ourselves a new fan.

It's exactly what we wanted; to be normal people again. Thespians go to New York, tree huggers go to trees, and bands go to Los Angeles.
