Dreamchair Music is a three-piece acoustic combo from San Francisco. Guitarist David Fortier and singer Elizabeth Levett Fortier first worked together in the rock bands Iowa Tank (1988-89) and Voodoo Motel (1989-92). We began working as Dreamchair in 1993 to expand our musical palette and work with different musicians. Three Wishes (1993) was a folk-rock collaboration with bassist Gordon Anderson. On Rope of Feathers (1993) David switched from guitar to viola and featured Ed Summerfield on bass and Marcos Fernandes on persussion. Carnival Skin (1994) was a return to the enthusiasm of punk. Carla Kielstedt played violin and Todd Edelman played drums.

After a wok injury, David had to put down the guitar for awhile. He started playing mandolin and bouzouki and listening to music from Central Asia and the Middle East. In 1997 we were joined by percussionist Robert Duarte and flute/keyboard player Dennis Hawley and recorded the limited edition cdr release Odalisque (1999). Following Dennis' death, Robert, Elizabeth and David regrouped and began working in David's home territory, songs written on acoustic guitar. The material ranges from blues to folk, pop and rock. We recorded Home in 2004. (Should be re-released this Summer.)

Dreamchair’s newest cd release, “Creek’s Risin” is available now at our website, dreamchairmusic.com.
