Raised in outskirts of our nation’s capital, Don E. Merson felt the merging of many musical traditions from the Bluegrass of Appalachia to the funky jazz of D.C. Growing up in the crossroads of these diverse traditions gives his music its undeniable presence. After spending time traveling the country to get a “feel for America”, Don E has honed his songwriting voice to be the voice of America. Settled in the warm skies of Tucson, his songs reflect the musical and emotional experience of America from the sublime to the ridiculous. Don E is part Walt Whitman, part Chet Atkins and this leads to his unique sound. Whether writing a reflective Jazz influenced piece or telling the story of a father’s love of his son, Don E speaks of and for the diversity that is America through his songs.
