Now in its eleventh year, the Mountain Stage NewSong Contest is one of North America's premier showcases of emerging performers and songwriters, and spans an array of genres.
This year's grand prize winner will receive an album produced by lestyn Polson (David Gray, Patty Smith, David Bowie) and a live performance on National Public Radio's highly acclaimed Mountain Stage show.

Additionally, all entrants will be candidates for future recording, management and performance opportunities through our partnerships with presenters that include the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, World Financial Center and Brookfield Properties.
The 2012 contest winner will get the opportunity to record a fully-funded album with producer/songwriter Iestyn Polson. This album will be released on the NewSong Recordings label. In addition, the winner will get to perform on an internationally broadcast Mountain Stage (NPR) show, which has showcased over two thousand artists since 1983. The short list of those who have made their national debut on the show include the Barenaked Ladies, Ryan Adams, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Alison Krauss and NewSong Recordings artist and former contest standouts and NewSong Recordings artists Chris Velan, Jeff Ellis, Grace Pettis, Amber Rubarth and Diana Jones.
Finalists and other contest standouts will also be invited to participate in future NewSong Music productions in various locations throughout the country, and will be candidates for film and television placement opportunities, as well as for future releases on the NewSong Recordings label. Non-winning finalists will also be considered for future Mountain Stage appearances.
Contestants should designate the style of song they consider their entry to fit when entering tunes. The categories are: Rock & Blues, Americana, Folk, World, Christian, Country, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Pop/Alternative, Children's, Humor and Other/Open.
