Hi S.R. - Thanks for the thoughtful review of "Jagged Flames". You were right on the money - it is a true story with a bit of artistic license thrown in to make a song. The fellow in the story was a client of a friend of mine at a social service agency. The guy went out one morning for about ½ hour, leaving his young daughter alone in the house. When he came back the house was on fire and his daughter couldn't be rescued. He became semi-psychotic and spent the next several years wandering around the country, getting by doing day labor whenever he could find work. As my friend was working with him, he began getting it together, and when he had accumulated a bit of money said that he wanted to buy a violin. My friend asked him about this, and it turns out he had been a child prodigy and had been on national TV in his country of origin. I thought it was an absolutely incredible story and I just had to write a song about it. Marv

Hi Gemma - I know I'm a bit tardy, but I want to thank you for the the thoughtful reviews of "Tears At A Movie" and "An Echo (Asking A Shadow To Dance)". I appreciate your comments because it's clear you listen very carefully and put a lot of thought into what you write. Marv

Hi Laurence - A belated thanks for your very nice review of "Help Me Doctor".

Gemma - Thanks for the nice things you said in your review of "When You Ride A Dream". The song was written for the Olympics and won the UK Songwriting Contest - Olympic Song Category in 2011.

I listened to a few of your songs. I like the way you use language and the unusual take on things in some of the songs.

Jamie - I felt kind of funny saying what I said about the vocals on "Is Anyone Home" and debated whether I should say it and ultimately decided I should be honest. It's such a good song.

I listened to a few of your other songs and was touched by "The Back Streets". The lyrics are very powerful. A cousin I grew up with that was more like a brother died in the Lockerbie plane crash many years ago. For over a year I'd be walking wherever doing whatever I was doing and I'd see something that reminded me of him and I'd start crying. I wrote a song called "Too Soon"in remembrance of him.

Hi Marv, I really did appreciate your honesty - it's what I'm here for. I hadn't recorded in a studio for over 20 years when I did Is Anyone Home? and Don't Tell Me, and I was both terrified and exhausted, even if elated to be doing it again. So I do know exactly what you're saying.
Thank you so much for your comments about The Back Streets - I'd sorry for the reasons it touches you, but again, you're 'spot on' - I wrote that after losing my best friend after an awful illness, and years later I still don't know where to put myself at times. Ironically, I also knew two people on Pan Am 103 - not well, but I had interviewed them only a couple of weeks before for a magazine article: two young Americans, on their way home. I'm so sorry about your cousin.
I will definitely come back to your page to check out your music properly this weekend - am on a beast of a book project (editing) at the moment - but just wanted to say thank you so much again for listening and just taking the time to comment. I appreciate it so much more than you know. Peace to you, and all the best, Jamie

Hi Marv, Just to say thank you so much for the very fair review of 'Is Anyone Home?'. You're right: I'm not the most confident of vocalists; I do perform, but tend to choke in the studio rather than on stage, so I think your review is spot on. Thanks for taking the time to listen and best wishes to you and for your music. Jamie

Marv, Thank you for 5***** on "Ghost Riders" it is one of my favorite. Your friend in music...Delta

Thanks for the thoughtful review of "Jackhammer City". I don't perform or do productions - I'm just a songwriter. I'll let my production guy see your comments. The song was written with licensing in mind - to set a mood in a film or TV show.

Marc, thanks for the 5 stars! I appreciate it!

Hi Jeff -

Thanks for the review of Too Soon. The song was written in memory of a cousin (more like a brother) I grew up with who died in the Lockerbie plane crash. I just write - I don't perform or do any of the productions.

I listened to several of your songs. The lines in Sarah "I hear seabirds and feel the ocean air, I turn around to see you standing there" are very powerful. That's exactly how it was for me for years.

Thanks for the complimentary review of Me and My Harley. Listened to some of your new songs. Again - brings back memories. My sister and I sang Erie Canal in music camp choir when we were teens back in the 50's; and I used to love Buffy Sainte Marie, who had a wonderful version of El Matador.

Hi Delta - Thanks for the 5 stars you gave "The Drummer (She Was A Lady)". I listened to several of your songs. You have a lovely voice and I love your taste in music. Both your style of singing and the songs you sing bring back memories of my youth. I particularly liked your interpretations of "Bang Bang" and "Sinner Man."

Hey! I am so glad you liked my music....I want to tell I was 6 and I had my brothers drum sticks in my hand and my step father told me to put them down they were a boys instrument not for a girl.....I wish i had listened to my heart and kept playing ....but these days it would be the Irish drum and I can never remember how to spell....if i had learned to play maybe I would lol! again thank you and I liked a number of yours as well...a friend of music
