Hi Mark, thanks so much for the listen and digging it enough to write. I almost wish now that I let the bass player do more on that song... I had a very scripted part for him and kept him honest on it. With so much else rhythmically it works in the end but after the fact I listen and thought I should have let him cut up on one pass with his own ideas... anyways thanks I appreciate your ears.

Hey Mark,

Thank you for the fine, concise and insightful review of my song, "Goodbye Doesn't Mean Goodbye". I am especially happy that it came from you and that you got the fact that I wrote a solid, real song that had a unique story . It was #1 on the Brioadjam - Country chart for several months. Now, all I need is to get it to the right country artists.... If you meet any in your travels keep the song in mind....

My best,

Chet Nichols

Hey Mark,

Thanks for the nice review of my "live" concert version of my song, "King Barlow". I used two harmonicas who I played that song at concerts. This version is the only surviving recording of me playing this song "LIVE". It was recorded at Cowtown Ballroom back in January of 1971. That night, little-old-me was saddled with the task of opening for The Kansas City Philharmonic Orchestra at Cowtown Ballroom. It was the first time in history when a philharmonic orchestra playing in a rock n' roll venue.

I was selected to do so because I was a classically trained cellist and pianist and the promoters felt I could perform a show that the young people and classical enthusiasts would enjoy. The whole show was captured on my CD, "Black & White".

It's an old recording, so it has a few issues and the mic spread it weird because the mics were spread very wide to accommodate the upcoming invasion of the orchestra players.....

Anyway, that is a little back-story to the tune about a king who, seeing the plight of his people, pushes away his riches and becomes a man-of-the-people, populist-outlaw.....

Best,

Chet Nichols

Mark,
Thanks for the fives for "Touch Down". It ain't jazz, but it was fun to do.
Been following your medical progress hope it all leads you back to playing without pain and enjoying the music making again. I've had a few setbacks with chopping off parts of my fingers and severing tendons. It's damned frustrating and sometimes a long time recovering. Hang in there my friend.

Hey Broadjam community, Its been qute a while since I posed anything here. Its coming up on the one year anniversary of my neck operation that basically kept me out of wheelchair. I'm healing pretty well although still having weakness in my legs. I also had a carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve release done on my right hand and arm, which has affected my playing. I'm working hard to get "it" back. Not working very much right now, work in western New York is pretty slim. I'm contemplating a move back to the Austin/San Antonio area or thinking about Toronto, although the latter means cold which really affec6s my hands. Anyway , I want to wish all a happy holiday season and a Happy 2017.... cheers to all

Hi Mark! All the best to you on your continuing recovery and possible relocation. Happy holidays to you too!

Mark, Mark, Mark! You are too amazing for words. I don't think I have to tell you how much I enjoy you in concert. Your DAD and I were sending little hand signals back and forth, as we both were rolling on the floor. Thanks for giving me so much to smile about. You entertwined with Venice and PML... wow. And it goes way beyond your antics. You are top of the charts in the world of bass players. In other words, a joy in every respect. Wish we still lived in California! Thanks for the friendship...
