Hi, James. Your voice is full and rich, like Morrissey, and that's a terrific thing...as is your songwriting. I like social commentaries and lessons, like "Two Wolves." "From Me to You" is a sweet song. I very much appreciate your enjoyment of "Stay Here Now," and I have to agree about the ending...the original I recorded (with my own awful, well, challenged, voice) had three different quarter notes at the end instead of the held note. I do like the harmonies. I'll take a look now and then to see what new songs you may put up!
John

Hello James, thank you for the 5stars on Whispered!

I think you should definitely put it out as a demo. It might actually do better with people guessing at the lyric. It made me think of Bad Grandpa 2.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your review of my song "Just As I Am" and your advice. I think all of us on here feel the pressure from all the competition, and I agree that we need to stick it out and trust our talent to help us get nowhere we want to go. Thanks again!

James, Thanks for the 5 stars on Still in My Dreams. That one I wrote in my early writing days, before I read Jason Blume's book. I demoed it a few years ago for film & TV.

Hi James:
Thanks for another review of "Autmn Palace". This is an ancient Chinese song that has been called Autmn Palace for centuries. It amazes me that you thought of Autmn Flood for the name!
Thanks again for the perfect score.

With respect to classical Chinese music virtuosity means 'natural.' Hypothetically, when it is played properly the listener should be able to tell what it is about. Apparently, it was perfect enough for me to get it right.

Sorry for the slow reply, but since we now know that the piece is essentially perfect, would you like a more expressly commercial endorsement?

Hi James. Thanks for reviewing "The Other Side". Your comments areappreciated. By the way, I just listened to I"In Love With Love". It's a really good song and your vocal performance is suprising strong and mature sounding. Are you really as young as your picture?

I was 47 when that was taken for my brother's second marriage in 2007. Both of the songs I have posted came from the same event. The sweet one was for the happy couple. The sour one was inspired by an obvious gold digger in the wedding party who spent the whole reception complaining about the rich guy who left her at the altar.

I was fortunate (or not, depending on how you look at it) to look very youthful for most of my adult life, but I was hit by a car at the end of 2007 and again in the summer of 2009. I look closer to my calendar age now, but between physical therapy and illness I haven't bothered about my head shot. I figure that I can get a new one when my appearance stabilizes.

Thanks for listening.

Is it time for you to write a song about you're ordeal?

Author

Maybe, but that would be a downer. It's almost always better to recover and write one about *that* instead. No?

You're right, a recovery song might inspire others who are going through what might seem to be unsurmountable challanges. If I can help, let me know.

HI James,

Thanks for the kind review of my bluegrass tune, "If They Find Out We're Living Together"....

I wrote the song back in the early 1970's. Indeed, it was inspired by a simpler time in the 50's and early 60's.

Oddly enough, many people today are going back to the basics of respecting relationships and letting love blossom slowly....then again, folks can't wait to be with each other every minute they can, if they are in love. I guess it is part of the joy and passion and excitement that love offers.

This song comes from my CD, "Taxi To Tonganoxie". Stop by and give some of the tunes from this fun album recorded in the mid-70's.

Best,
Chet Nichols

What I almost said was that it sounded like Green Acres, or Peggy Sue Got Married. It should be something commercially placeable. I'll check out Tonganoxie.
