Chris Matty Bio

“All I really want, is to be listenable and write songs that people enjoy” – Chris Matty

Passion and Enthusiasm make great music. When you write a great song, you touch people on so many levels. In a nutshell, this describes me, a songwriter/producer with a flair for writing pop/rock songs. With influences like Live, John Mayer, 3 Doors Down, Fuel, July for Kings, Matchbox 20 and the Goo Goo Dolls, it’s not hard seeing why my music has a knack for being classified as melodic pop rock.

After spending a year at Berklee College of Music, I pursued music regionally back in New Jersey, playing with various bands, through out the tri-state area and cutting my teeth in various New York City studios. I honed my engineering and production chops, leading to better gigs, working with keyboardist David Rosenthal, (Billy Joel), and session drummer Jonathan Mover (Fuel, Joe Satriani) in their private recording studios. . I have had the privilege of working on some great projects like Billy Joel’s Movin Out on Broadway, and in the recording studio with some fantastic musicians like progressive rock’s Happy the Man, Matt Kramer of Saigon Kick, and drummer Chuck Burgi, who has played with Meatloaf and Enrique Igesias. I ran my own artist management and production firms, working with bands across the area in the rock, pop, and alternative genres.

Currently, I am co-writing and producing an album for up and coming pop rock singer Dana Krupa. I have been working with Jeff Mosier, actor and former vocalist for Stone Cutters Guild on new music that is set to transpire into a new project called “Chance Encounter” for licensing and song placements. My new partnership, “It Factor Music”, with female Vocalist Erin Murphy from Junipers Daughter in Boston, MA is taking off as well, with 2 songs done and 5 more waiting in the wings for potential placements and licensing.

Music is personal. Check out the ballad ‘Lost Son’. “It’s about watching your dad constantly deal with his broken family. The song starts out “Behind your eyes/I see your pain, when you Dream/it goes away”, summing up the despair he sees play out.

“Lost son was the toughest lyrically to sing and write, because it’s me, watching my dad, dealing with the continuing troubles of a dysfunctional house. I didn’t grow-up in a broken home, I just feel everyone else’s pain around me, and that’s what my lyrics are about.”

I own a professional mobile recording studio that enables me to work in any capacity, be it my home, on the road, or any venue of my choosing. I am always looking for a new band, artist, or venture to pursue. Why? Because this is my love, and my passion.
