Breaking Laces sound has been compared to bands across the
spectrum, from the Violent Femmes to the Lemonheads to Ben
Fold's Five. It's no doubt, though, that it's frontman Willem
Hartong's quirky, well-crafted songs backed by a locked rhythm
section that make them hard to peg.

Breaking Laces' first full-length release, Sohcahtoa (Sidewinder Records) has been
making waves across the country. At last check, the CD was charting in the top 30 of over
40 college radio stations across the country.

"This is easily the best singer-songwriter type of recording I've had the chance to write
about in a long, long time. The niche Breaking Laces fills is as wide as the entire music
market right now, and if there is such a thing as justice in this world, you will hear their
name from more places than just me very, very soon."
