Bowser Band Bio

With legions of loyal fans who routinely travel hundreds of miles to support the band, Bowser, formed out of a group of childhood friends, plays original music and a diversity of covers centered on a love for improvisation and experimentation. The five-piece band consists of Luke Abler (gtr. and voc.), Owen Mooney (keys and voc.) Jon Prigge (harmonica and voc.), John Selak (bs. and voc.) and Chuck Elenbeck (drums and perc.).

All of the members have significant professional musical experience and lineage. Abler is the son of Keith Abler, a legendary figure from the 1970’s rock band Sunblind Lion. Prigge has played with the Chris Aaron Band, sung with Clyde Stubblefield (James Brown’s original “funky drummer”), and shared the stage with WC Clark (“The Godfather” of Austin, TX.), Kim Wilson and The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Waldo Weathers, Junior Brantley, Tab Benoit, Jim Liban, Sunblind Lion, Groovatron and the one and only Molly Hatchet.

With a new self-titled album recently released and over sixty-five thousand profile views on Myspace.com, Bowser stands on the verge of national recognition. The year 2007 has brought accolades from Jambands.com which has placed Bowser in the Top 15 of their “New Grooves” national jam band list (www.jambands.com). Showcasing Bowser’s song writing talents, their song “Lt Dan” has been featured and played prominently on Neil Young’s “Living With War” website
(http://www.neilyoung.com/lwwtoday/). “(Bowser has the) cult-like following that the Grateful Dead and Phish are known for…”, raves the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Advance-Titan newspaper.

With a full slate of summer shows and festivals planned, Bowser will find themselves sharing billings with JGB and Melvin Seals, GE Smith, and Donna Godchauex (a former member of The Grateful Dead) at the 2007 Grateful Garcia Gathering Music Festival in Black River Falls, WI. They will also appear at the renowned Steel Bridge Song Festival in Sturgeon Bay, WI hosted by Pat MacDonald (formerly of Timbuk 3) and featuring Jackson Browne. Bowser also has a date with previous National Jamband poll winner Green Lemon on July 21, 2007 at Shank Hall in Milwaukee, WI. . “…bringing in some of the largest crowds”, declares the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Advance-Titan newspaper.
