So, you want dance music? I got dance music. You want Big Band. I got Big Band. Beautiful orchestral Sinatra-style love ballad in slow waltz- got it. Funny—I got some that will make you laugh. How about funk….latin….country? Yep, that too. I might even squeeze out a little hip hop from time to time. I think I can write just about any genre—for heaven’s sake I played them all. Piano, drums, vocals. From Mozart piano concertos, marching band rudimental snare, and top 40 coast to coast cover bands, to awesome jazz trios in intimate settings; and from country dives in the sticks of Pennsylvania to plush, packed theatres, I’ve been there. Playing. Watching . Listening to all of the other incredible performers with whom I have been so lucky to share so many stages.

Loving it.

And missing it so much that even as a busy psychiatrist (how do you feel about that?) for Pennsylvania Hospital, University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, I keep my hand and my heart in the music. Not so much as a performer these days (although I do make cameo appearances on the drums at 23rd Street Café in Philadelphia from time to time), but as a writer. From the throne in front of my computer I lay down the tracks as they come into my head, and then smile with such gratitude as I listen to a good playback and feel the company of all of those musicians and teachers and spirits who have guided me or contributed to my creative brain in one way or another. Listen to a cross section of my tunes and you might hear the influences of Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Nelson Riddle, Sting, and Emmy Lou Harris, to name but a few. My own vocals are just fine for some. But go ahead and take one of my songs and bend it around yourself. I’d love to hear you.

And hey, if you’re feeling depressed or psychotic, I might be able to help you with that, too.
