Bob Semanchik Bio

Bob Semanchik is a 53-year-old lifetime professional guitarist and music teacher from southern Connecticut who has recently released his first C.D. called "Standard Interpretations". The title stems from the concept of taking twelve well-known Jazz and Pop standards and doing them up in a jazz/rock style with steel string acoustic, nylon string and a variety of electric guitar sounds. Bob's playing style comes from a predominantly rock background, but he navigates over the jazz changes fluently in an easy on the ears manner. To quote Vivian Nereim from the New Haven Advocate "In 15 tracks, his solo debut soars through a series of creative covers of classics...but Semanchik also throws in three original tracks that showcase his playfulness and rock sensibility". Also included are two vocal selections that further show his versatility. Bob currently performs solo in clubs, restaurants and private parties playing predominately covers and selections from his new C.D. using an Ipod to play over backing tracks.

The C.D. was recorded with the help of longtime CT bass master Don Wallace and equally talented Sal Ranniello on drums. These two versatile musicians were very important for laying down the basic framework of the tunes that were recorded at Horizon Studio in West Haven, CT and Red Barn in Bethlehem, CT. The guitars and vocals were tracked at Bob's home studio and then expertly mixed by Roger Arnold. Roger is a fellow teacher of Sound Recording at The University of New Haven as well as mixing and engineering in many of southern New England's best studios. Most notably engineering for Jose Feliciano.

Bob's goal in releasing this C.D. is to put his career on track for obtaining more performing gigs and create opportunity for future releases. Although being a full time music teacher is certainly satisfying, nothing beats the feeling of performing your own music in front of a live audience. Bob also hopes this C.D. can create an opportunity to eventually put together a band for a fuller and more real musical experience.
