Sprouting from the ground of traditional American music, Blue Dirt offers a highly acceptable musical experience to audiences demanding a vast array of tastes. Described by fans and critics as Grass/Rock & American Roots, Blue Dirt's style simply involves a progressive twist on country, bluegrass, blues and jam rock. The music started in the spring of 2008 when Michael Godmar and Jason Schewe met at an open mic in Traverse City, then again at Pat Nemisto's infamous last "Pickin Party". Many rehearsals and stream of professional performances came to follow. With the addition of Sam Busk on electric guitar, one of Northwest Michigan's favorite bands was born.
