The ‘09 6-Pack Contest Is On!

Well, it’s time to get your songwriting chops lubed and prepare for the 5th Annual 6-Pack Songwriting Competition.

As I mentioned, this is the fifth year of the 6-Pack. Liz Miller won the first two and Margaret McClure won the past two. I’m sure many of the veterans will be returning as I have been receiving steady inquiries about the starting date, challenges, etc. The first four categories are the annual primer (any song you have), a love song, an instrumental and a spiritual song. The last two will be announced later and I’m sure you’re going to love them!

I can’t wait to see what the veteran 6-Packers come up with and personally invite the newcomers to bring their “A” game. There’s not a songwriting competition out their quite like the Broadjam 6-Pack and you will be stretched way beyond your current capacity.

You will see lots of new technical changes coming to the 6-Pack as well. Many of these were a result of direct feedback and we threw in a few of our own. As always, I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions regarding the 6-Pack or anything else we do for that matter. You can use this blog or send me a note directly. For some reason, I suspect you will have much to talk about.

As always, our sponsors have provided the contest with great prizes – take a look. They Include Sony, IK Multimedia, Line 6, Casio, Yamaha, ASCAP, and more!

So Get Lubed (Anything), Brew Some Luv (Love Songs), Shut Yer Yap (Instrumental) and get on that Rarified High (Spiritual) as we’re getting started.

The 2009 6-Pack is rockin’ and we’re off and running. Best of luck to everyone.

Sincerely,
Roy Elkins, Broadjam Founder and CEO

  • Hey everyone,

Welcome back and good luck! Lots of new stuff and features coming when the leaderboard launches…..Also, you are going to love (or hate) contest 5 and 6.

BTW: Thanks to Mr. Miller for suggesting that we keep one a secret. We decided to keep a couple of them quiet this year.

    Best of luck to everyone,

    Roy

  • My hovercraft is full of eels……again. Hope the reviews will be full open reviews and not anonymous reviews. Let’s face it, we all get to know each other via our songs pretty quickly. Keep it in the open… that way we can get to connect with the artists we really like very easily. Joe, congrats on winning the s.o.t.m.! Oh yes, learn from Bobby. Really, one simple unaware slip put him out of the top 5 last year at the last moment - really most unfortunate. However, does show Bjam sticks to the rules right down to the nth degree. Which brings me to the next point: where are this years’ rules per contest element “i’s” dotted and “t’s” crossed, Bjam?? Fess up Bjam!!

  • PT,

The song was part of the “What Does it Say” category where we wrote to a soundbed. I used
it in the rap category the next year…not suppose to do that cos’ there’s another writer involved.
The penalty was only that that song in particular was bounced…nothing more, So, don’t be using The People of the Glass of Truth or they throw the flag. Other than that…any other song
as long as it fits the category works…as long as you wrote it.

    Good writing

    Bobby

  • Hey PT,

I think, pretty sure, that last year Bobby inadvertently used a track that was part of one of the previous year’s challenges, written by someone else, and he did not get prior permission to use it.
Reasonably certain that you can submit whatever you want of your own. While I don’t think it’s against the rules, it may, though it shouldn’t, draw backlash from the voters. Though they would have to remember that they heard it, etc. (think ‘Konichiwa’!) -LOL.

  • Whats the official policy on submitting tracks that didn’t score points in the previous year? Can we submit old material or are we only allowed to submit material produced over the last year?

Bobby C had a bad moment last 6 Pack (Bows head momentarily), being he accidently overlooked some kind of rule regarding double submitting a track.

I just would like to be sure a don’t blow a hundred bucks or disqualify anything.

Thanks for the feedback when you have a chance.

    Cheers:)

  • OHHHHHHHHHHHH SNAP!

(puts on super atomic shield guard sunglasses/visor.)

    They mentioned lube:) (Starts giggling.)

Round two for underdog Protilius… Can he score some gear this time through?

A-game eh? I know just the A game to recruit to the cause:)

(pulls out Fog Horn, gives it a blow.)

    “PHOEBE!!! WE NEED MORE TRACKS!!!”

    (Smiles briefly.)

“She lives a ways away… The fog horn is required when I’m too drunk to type.”

(Pops top from a bottle of Walker Blue… Swigs heavily and then lashes Gragnat with an electrified whip. Sparks fly as the massive creature stands upright and lets out a roar.)

“Get to it TROLL! Platinum doesn’t sell itself!!! No more Scotch till we win this thing!!!”

    Well…

    “Maybe a little scotch.”
