Ok, here we go again. It’s time for the 6th Annual 6-Pack, the toughest and most challenging songwriting contest on Planet Earth. Congrats to 2009 winner, Stein Thor, of Iceland. I’m not sure a nicer guy could have won this contest. He is truly one-of-a-kind with a spirit bigger than life. He joins two-time winners Liz Miller and Margaret McClure as the only male winner of the contest thus far. Let’s see if he repeats like they did.
You’ll see new categories and some twists during the trip this year. The first challenge, Unplugged, is exactly as it sounds. This has been a popular challenge in the past and it’s back by demand. Bring all you got to the second challenge and Let It All Hang Out. What’s A Picture Worth? We’re going to find out in the third challenge where we are asking you to write a song about a painting. Now if something is ticking you off, oil spills, wars, class warfare, bad refereeing in the world cup, oil spills, crime, political parties, the media, oil spills, whatever it may be, Protest This, our fourth challenge is the place to let the world know. I think you know what to do in 5th challenge, 6-Pack Jingle, but number six is the tough one. We’re giving you the theme and you give us the song in Stick To The Script.
This year all membership levels get at least one free submission to each challenge and we expect a big turnout. It’s a record year for prizes with over $100,000 of them. Our buds Modern Beats, IK Multimedia, Sonoma Wireworks, Yamaha, Sony, Steinberg, Sonic Reality, Bias, Sonor, Ultimate Support, Mojave Audio & ASCAP are all here with great stuff to offer.
If you think you got what it takes, this is the year to test yourself as the competition will never have been greater.
Good luck,
Roy

Thanks Felice, congratulations for making to the finals and to all the top twenty!
Penny, when a song can touch you and make you cry then the artist has done his/her work. Your music has touched me that way and I have the box of Kleenex’s by my side:) xoxo
I agree with N. Jones’ comments – since some of us know whose songs these are – it’s difficult to give a fair vote – it would be much better to rate them individually – that way it doesn’t turn into a popularity contest. I also noticed that the three songs are in different categories – how do you compare an instrumental to a comedy song? Don’t mean to be critical – just a thought.
