As the 6-Pack contest is over, we’ve redirected all the communications going on at that blog to this – the main Broadjam Blog. The 6-Pack blog will eventually be reutilized for the next 6-Pack competition.
Don’t let this small change freak you out! We realize how popular the 6-Pack blog has been and want to continue to offer a forum for the discussions that were taking place there. Broadjam encourages you to bring your ongoing comments and posts here.
If there’s anything you think we’ve overlooked, feel free to let us know, and we’ll take it into consideration. Thanks!

Phoebe I totally loved the John Visconti Blues!!! Your voice and lyrics were fabulous and I don’t usually use the word fabulous. It had such a mood to it, both funny and meaningful at the same time…..John is a gem and your depiction of him was so entertaining and soulful.I m still vibrating from the listening experience! Great work! Penny
Jul 3, 2008/7:16 pmGlad y’all liked my Visconti Blues! That makes me happy.

p.s. hi penny!
Jul 3, 2008/4:56 pmWow, y’all started blogging already. Reading through to catch up. This is still one of the most fun parts of this contest, to be able to communicate with all of you in this way (hint, hint for a community board/blog permanently)… Have to get a few new songs together for the contest, don’t think any of the old stuff will fly too well this time around.
Hey Pen, I heard the John Visconti Blues too. How cool it is to have someone write a song about ya John.
Brings back memories of Bonham in a Can and Batman from last year.
Haven’t seen a Joe post yet, here’s waitin for the wonderful philosophy.
Thanks again Roy, for a great place to hang out.

Jul 3, 2008/4:52 pmHi everyone,
Jul 3, 2008/4:50 pmAfter carefully reading the rules for this years 6 pack
i now understand the system as it stands for this years 6 pack very well and in doing so i have decided reluctantly to only take part this year in the reviewing process.
It’s a win win situation for me this year because i still get to hear the many wonderful songs you guys n gals write whilst keeping my money safely in my wallet.
It’s a new year and there have been some improvements which are welcomed but having said that and after reading Jacks concerns (and i am sure he won’t be the only person to speak up about this system as time passes)i can only hope that broadjam wake up to the fact that as the system stands once again multiple submissions still leave a bitter taste in talented songwriters mouths who have worked so hard crafting their song for it to be lost in the mix to multiple submission which in turn only bring the same old problems to the table as it did last year.
Granted it won’t make that much difference as some have pointed out.
But no matter where anyone stands in the leaderboard it should be a TRUE reflection and not just because someone uploaded 50 songs into that section which pushed someones single entry back a few places.
Broadjam could have the best songwriting contest online if only they bit the bullet and addressed multiple submissions once and for all and gave a specific date each time as to when the votes are counted before any changes in the leaderboard take place instead of songwriters just
logging on to find all their points are gone.
I wish the best of luck to everyone!
I’ve heard some fantastic songs already!
Nice to see Penny on the leaderboard!
I heard the baseball song and loved it!
Congrats penny!
Johnny.
See Jack, Ian has the right attitude.
Ian mate, always a joy to hear from you… Whatever you’re drinkin’ I want some of it when I get off of work… oh yeah, it is a few hours later on the east side of the pond… the pub yer at must have wi-fi.

Jul 3, 2008/4:02 pmGood Man…Well Done Larz!!
Jul 3, 2008/3:51 pmHi Jack,
Welcome to the 6 pack…. Whew …let it all out Matey…lol
We all do when we first come on here….lol…I did last year, which was my first time in the 6 pack. Great Post Jack…Well Done!
Theres all kinds of things that could be done to make the whole thing go smoothly…but remember the ‘ole addage…Cant please all the people all the time…..suppose its in our nature that we try and protect our Baby’s (as Joe called them last year)…so we’re always looking at the Leaderboard…wondering…How did that guy get thousands of points already,…musta stuck about 50 songs in that challenge….and ..how come I lost all my points when everyone else stayed in place….lol…the list goes on.
Because of the nature of what we’re involved in “Music Files Over The Internet”…I dont think its possible to have everything Perfect for Everyone…
I’ve given up worrying about how it works….’cause I cant enter 10 or more songs in each of the challenges…which is whats likely happening here…so I have to rely on hopefuly writing a cracking song…lol… for each of the challenges and keep everything crossed
ya know..fingers , toes, legs etc…lol
I’m soooooo Glad that Roy and The Bjam Team created this Site…and The Competitions. This 6 Pack Comp is Absolutely Brilliant…
I say that even after hearing you marked Mr. Marvin as innapropriate
LOL….(well I thought it was funny).
Anyway…keep comin’ with the suggestions Jack…’cause Roy and the team do their Absolute Best at all times….and They do as much as they can in response to our suggestions.
Hey Roy…thers somethin’ wrong with the scores…Mr. Marvin has’nt made a move yet……lol.
Penny Me Darlin’ YeeeeeHaaaaa…I had to Re-Boot my OS on the pc..
thats why I’ve been missing…..I’ll be in touch …Honest..xxx.
Love to All
Jul 3, 2008/3:46 pmJack,
Welcome to the 6-Pack and the blog (which seems to be as much fun as the contest itself). They had to explain almost the exact same questions to me last year, so I’ll attempt to pass on what I’ve learned. Points are awarded to the top 20 songs in each category with the top song getting 1000, song 2 gets 950, etc. decrementing by 50 for each place.
The algorythm BJ uses to determine which song should be reviewed (they say is random) tries to even out the number of reviews for each song. So a new song will get more reviews at first and will be reviewed against other new songs
Jul 3, 2008/3:36 pmHi all. I am new to Broadjam and have been around music for many years. I am mostly excited to be a part of my first 6-Pack and would like to share some observations, some of which beg for an explanation:
-The rubric or scoring mechanism for the 1-And All challenge is quite confusing to me. The description of the challenge encourages multiple submissions, “Submit one song or submit them all because the only requirement for this challenge is that it’s great.” This makes perfect sense to me but how is it that yesterday, I had 1640 points (I assume they are points
Jul 3, 2008/2:24 pmOk that’s it!!! I just started to review this morning and I heard this very sultry voice with a jazzy, cool band behind her singing in a very captivating, seductive manner. I was extremely impressed but as it was moving along I thought, ok this is great but where’s the name? You’ve got to have a persons’ name in this part of the competition. I may actually have to press the inappropriate button. My hand was hovering and then there it was, John Visconti Blues!!! Great lyrics, great voice, GREAT subject matter!!! I loved it and started grinning ear to ear…I’m back, I’m in and that got my best mark. Hello me mate Ian, Mr Visconti, Margaret and all you other wonderful bloggers. That tune really cheered up my morning and I’m looking forward to hearing more from all you ultra talented, mega mood elevating song writers!
Jul 3, 2008/1:20 pmLove,
Penny
Erm, Holy crap in a bucket…
I’m amaazed by the vociferousness hahaha…
I LIKE it,
can’t wait to see who wins…
chance has nothing,
talent is all…
bring it ON!
Jul 2, 2008/2:29 pmBobby,
It’s not a bad idea, but we probably won’t incorporate it this year. We actually considered only one winning lyric. Naw, you’re not thinking too hard. That’s what keeps us on our toes.
Jim,
Feel free to let me know your thoughts anytime. They are always welcome.
Everyone,
Look out, Mr. Marvin’s Shuffle is on it’s way into the 6-Pack.
BTW: The leaderboard just launched and I think the 6-Pack veterans have some new challengers this year.
Roy
Jul 1, 2008/6:16 pmThanks for the response, Roy. I still have some issues on the USA contest, but I’ll address them outside of this forum.
Jim
Jul 1, 2008/4:58 pmLOL Bobby…..Good One… yeah would be better if the three options were the same lyric.
Thanks Roy….I’ll enter Mr. Marv in the first challenge then….lol.
Wonder where Me Mate Penny is…? David says he’s got the Kids now for summer…lol…among other things…so He’ll be joinin’ us at the end of August….thats what I did last year…I’m cheatin’ this year..
lol…I’ve started at the beginning.
Glad the thing Jim noticed is OK…..Whew…
L8r….Ian.
