We are about two and a half months away from the launch of the 5th annual Broadjam 6-Pack Songwriting Challenge, and this year is going to be sweet! We have some new features, an incredible prize package, and great - but not easy - songwriting challenges. So dust off your thinking caps, acquire lots of coffee, a pencil, paper, and prepare for some late night recording sessions because this 6-Pack is going to be better than ever.
What updates or challenges would you like to see for 2009 6-Pack?

Further to ‘Proti’s top ten tabs’, I hate to admit it but in accordance with B’jams complex logarythm computer system, the more reviews that one partakes in, the more others review your material..so if one has some decent tracks and does a lot of reviewing, your chances for top 10’s greatly increases, case in point currently, we have the following top 10’s(that I know of):Jazz, #2 April Feeling and #4 “Tazmanian Devil”…Modern Jazz,#5 “Stealie Dan”,Classical,#10 “Crescent Moon”, ans Classical-Classical(whatever that means?)”Crescent Moon” #1 and “Daughter’s 2″ #7…Latin Jazz,#7 “Del Corazon”…..Kristin has the #7 slot on both the R&B Contemporary with “GetThere”, and the Male category with “Landslide”, as well as #5 in the West AND, Drum Roll….#20 overall(out of 10,000

Keep recording and reviewing and if you have any “4″ ‘cliffhangers’,be generous and give them a 5!
Pole Barn Poets:
Reviews…
I don’t believe the play count is affected by reviews. Reviews dictate the score. It only takes like 3 perfect 5s to nail top ten. Even less depending on what genre you’re looking at. I’m rampaging industrial with 2-4 tracks at any given time. A few other genres.
My track Gamble is like between 2 and 7 in Unique/soundtracks and Unique as a whole.
That one has like four 5 outa 5s I believe. Got lucky… Its a good track, but I don’t know if its that good. LOL
Track plays is not a factor in determining rank, only reviews… Margaret and seven things just blasted the top ten with a track not long ago that literally hit 8 charts all at once.
She likely got a great review the day prior.
Anyhow… hope it helps.

Feb 27, 2009/3:02 pmI’m curious as to what is used to determine the popularity of free songs. I see someone with only 7 plays for all songs ahead of someone with 300 plays. What gives?

Hi Ian,
My real account is the “Andy Machin” one. I tried upgrading my account yesterday to submit to a listing under the deadline (the Stevie Ray Vaughan one), with a coupon I got with Peak Pro but ended up starting another site. I called Jesse and he’s got me all hooked up now. I just gotta figure out how to get that other one down.
As for the guitars….unfortunately there’s only the two………dang!……….can never have too many guitars I always say.

Your first track was converted to mp3 with the wrong settings.
Sounds like you bounced something at 48k and then converted it using 41k settings.
No biggey, easily fixed, but you got some bad distortion there.

That would be so cool. To actually SEE the scoring and review statistics.
Know which tracks came close, who liked what, was there any questionable voting… all those sort of things.
The problem with blindly competing for the gold is you have to trust the results when they are given to you. There is a lot to be said about knowing how a process works better and understanding the results of a system that has taken soooooooo much criticism over the years.
Transparency sounds cool.

Yep… Six accounts, six computers, six IP addresses to float on, And one agenda…
Win the sixpack!
LOL
Kidding:) We had a conversation about this last year actually. It became obvious after previewing the winners profiles that the results were justified.
Although, I’m sure some are still tempted to try with all of that gear on the line.
Hope Roy and all them are keeping an eye on that stuff!
