Our new Cd “LIsten Politician” was released in the United States this week on 3000 records. It is a unique song with rap and alternative rock that made runnerup in the VH-1 song of the year contest. We have already received offers for distribution in Europe. It is also being sold on TAGGER66@broadjam.com and is available on our website TAGGER66.com. Also check out our single Cinco De Mayo 2030 from our recent album Too Many Directions which made finalist in the VH-1 song of the year contest and is doing well on alternative stations in Japan. Thanks again Roy and Staff for the Vegas trip to Play for Publishers. Thanks to all the members who voted me into the top 5 and also the Earth and Country Top 10′s. Thanks for creating a site that was so user friendly, that even a techno- challenged songwriter could create and maintain a website in record time, and submit with ease to multiple opportunities. I am well into living my dream and am grateful for all that Broadjam has done for me professionally.

    Life’s Much Better In Mexico
The Sahlens and MexMo Sa Carlos Release New CD

We just released a CD of new songs (The Sahlens first in 16 years), “Life’s Much Better In Mexico.” It came available for sale last week on CDBaby, but a couple weeks prior we uploaded and “delivered” the tracks to Broadjam. That resulted in Film TV co-publishing contracts for 24 tracks from our catalogue including 8 of the 12 from the “Life’s Better …” CD! Yeah Team!

In 1977 Music Connection Magazine sent me out to interview the reclusive sixties folk rocker Spanky McFarlane for one of it’s very first issues. That interview was the beginning of a long friendship and collaboration that has spanned 31 years. Spanky and Our Gang, then the Mamas and Papas, figure largely in many adventures over the years. Spanky and I co-produced and performed two music festivals in Northern California, and the 1960s Music Festival in my home town of San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico.

If anyone would have ever told me I would be one day be engineering and producing spanish language music acts in a beach town in Mexico, I’d say they were crazy. Toxic Titty Disease (truth, silicone makes you sick) made it impossible to continue working at any more “day jobs of the famous and poor” so my songwriter husband and I decided it was time to “retire” to cheaper living south of the border. Being musicians and songwriters (“when it’s in ya, it’s in ya”) we brought down a simple home studio setup to record demos. Word got around, musicians started knocking on the door, and ended up a small recording studio, a Mexican corporation, and 18 CDs released on CDBaby.

The company is called MexMo San Carlos S de RL de CV, named by my longtime music buddy Chris Montez. I uploaded videos of Chris and others from the 1960s Music Festival on YouTube.com/tomatah1. He was visiting us last year and suggested we start “the Mexican Motown” to nurture the cool talent we found here.

  • ewold's comment is:

THE END USERS OF MUSIC FROM THIS SITE WOULD, I IMAGINE, HAVE NO MUSICAL TRAINING AND VERY LITTLE IDEA OF HOW MUSIC WORKS WITH PICTURE. IT IS BECAUSE OF THIS THAT MOST LOW BUDGET PRODUCTIONS HAVE SOUNDTRACKS THAT ARE LIKE AN IPOD ON SHUFFLE.

IT SEEMS THE MUSIC IS CHOSEN TO PLEASE THE FILMMAKERS THEMSELVES WITH TOTAL DISREGARD FOR ANY AUDIENCE ENJOYMENT. THAT IS SIMPLY MASTURBATION.

QUITE FRANKLY MUSIC FOR TV HAS NOW BEEN DUMBED DOWN TO SUCH A POINT THAT THE PIECES THAT ARE CHOSEN FOR FILM AND TV ARE CHOSEN PRIMARILY BY THE MUSICALLY ILLITERATE, THE NON-READERS AND THE HARMONY BLIND.

‘GARAGE BAND’ AND ALL THE OTHER PIECES OF SOFTWARE THAT CHURN OUT ENDLESS REPETITIVE LOOPS DO NOT SUDDENLY TURN THE USER INTO A ‘COMPOSER’ FOR FILM AND TV. THE COMPOSERS WHO ARE SUCCESSFULLY WORKING IN THE FILM INDUSTRY HAVE STUDIED FOR MANY, MANY YEARS AT CONSERVATOIRES AND HAVE EARNED THEIR POSITIONS THROUGH SHEER HARD WORK AND ACADEMIC STUDY.

MAY I ALSO REMIND THE PUBLIC THAT AT ITS HIGHEST-LEVEL MUSIC BECOMES A MATHEMATICAL OCCUPATION FIGURED OUT ON PAPER (OFTEN IN SILENCE) AND IN MY CAREER AS A SUCCESSFUL FILM COMPOSER I AM ALWAYS PAID MORE TO WORK IN THIS WAY.

ULTIMATELY IF YOU GET A MUSICAL EDUCATION YOU WILL BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY, AFTER ALL WOULD YOU EMPLOY A DENTIST OR A LAWYER WHO HAD NO QUALIFICATIONS?

DO NOT LET THE MUSIC INDUSTRY PREY ON YOU. GOOD LUCK!

    INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL.

  • Steve Dafoe's comment is:

Thank You to all that have given reviews to help 7-8 songs currently in Top 10 placements! One goaI as a writer was to be able to write across
Genre’s and I have realized some measure of sucess when I see songs charting, (or have), in Blues, Country, Folk, Rock , Jazz, Pop and R&B.
As a result, I have released History Vol 2 and Vol 3 that are available,
(or will be shortly) on CDBaby. Just follow the links from the Album Tab on http://www.stevedafoe.com. Both compilations are fav’s from reviewers and
    A/R people in general !
And good luck to all that will be in new Broadjam 6 pack contest now underway!

  • gripmusic's comment is:

Kevin Michael/Grip Music of Miami FL has recently licensed 2 albums by separate artists to MTV and Japan thru Psychedelic Records of California. We also had the same material licensed to Greece during this time (2007-2008). We are always in need of quality female vocal talent (preferably young and fresh sounding to place in the market).

  • Colin Rock's comment is:

Don’t know if this is quite the right format but, ah well, I’d like to mention that I’ve finally collated the yearly song and poem written for the woman who (only recently, the minx) became my wife. 27 years, thus 27 poems and 27 songs. Nice little book
