UK Country Radio Awards next Award show takes place on Sunday 4th February 2007 at the Lakeside Country Club, Frimley Green, Camberley, Surrey 1 - 10pm approx. featuring The Swing Commanders, The Murphys (Ireland), West Virginia, Chris Harris & Southern Union, Ridgeway Country and the 2006 Southern Country Magazine Readers’ Choice Band of the Year Award winner. Tickets £10 - reserve them now by ringing Alan on 01962 734401.
The sponsor for the 2006 U.K. Country Radio Awards is Southern Country Magazine. Southern Country Magazine, an every day story of country music folk on the UK scene, is in its 28th year of publication. The magazine regularly features letters, general country music news, artist news, radio news, album reviews, Country Hotdisc news, the EMS European Independent Label Top 30 Country Chart, plus festival reviews, club reviews, many advertisements featuring artists, all manner of products and events, as well as recording studios etc. and dances for those who want to learn to dance.
One of the many Country Bands that Bubba, host of the Outlaw Punk Cowboy Show, discovered from the UK was Turner West. In the U.K. based podcast by PodFather, Adam Curry, Daily Source Code (www.dailysourcecode.com
) Bubba had mentioned that the U.K. Digital Music Awards did not have a country genre for their awards categories. Podfather Curry explained that country music just was not a british thing. After some research about the British Country scene, Bubba presented Episode 11 - “The U.K. Cowboy Rides Tall In The Saddle”. One of the featured bands in that episode was Turner West. Bubba, bought the Turner West album, and contacted Phil Rynhart off the http://www.turnerwest.net website for podplay permission on the Outlaw Punk Podcast. To check the outlawpunk.podshow.com archives, Episode 11 - “The U.K. Cowboy Rides Tall In The Saddle”.
Turner West members are Barry Owen - vocals and fiddle, Dzal Martin - Guitars, Dobro, Lap Steel, Banjo, and finally Phil Rynhart - bass, mandolin. The Turner West debut album from new Irish - English collaboration ‘Turner West’ you’d swear was forged in the studios of Nashville right off the Tennesse River, not the Thames. Twelve tracks that make up their line-up are an unashamed reflection of their admiration of the luminaries of what, for want of a more accurate definition, we can call “new country” – Vince Gill, Brooks & Dunn, Dwight Yoakam. Visit http://www.turnerwest.net
for news and updates about the band.

  • Ronald Turner And The Fashion Statement has released their newest CD entitled Love Prevails.

It’s under the NuJazz format with subtle hints of R & B. It’s guaranteed to fill your audio vibes with smooth, delightful, ear candy–not the regular, dull, smooth jazz formats of commercial radio.

It’s content is bold, authentic, and brazen enough to use real jazz chords and textures that the true audiophile will enjoy. It has been chosen to be the CD of the month from several Internet radio stations. The commercial stations might be afraid of the “real music” competition. They’ll probably be wearing “audio body armor” when they hear this creative style. This music is not for the faint of heart if you’re looking for true music. You’ll glow with delight throughout every musical nerve and sinew your body possesses.

It’s the 2nd release for Ronald Turner And the Fashion Statement following the first release It’s All About Love.

If you’re a NuJazz fan, you won’t be disappointed. Broadjam has it labeled under Jazz (Contemporary). It’s some seriously good stuff. Try it. You won’t get bitten, and you’ll tell the world about the quietest secret that everybody already knew.

    Most sincerely,

    Ronald G. Turner
