Hello Broadjam,
The leaderboard for the 2007 6-Pack launched a couple weeks ago and since then we have seen a lot of different names up there—some veterans of the 6-Pack and some new faces as well. Earlier last week, we launched the rankings for our second challenge, Location, Location, Location. Once again, the leaders have changed and the race is starting to heat up. Remember, the leaderboard is updated several times daily and your reviews are extremely important in determining the outcome. Also, you can win each individual challenge that you enter, but it is the Broadjam member with the most points in all challenges that will take home the overall grand prize.
So, how has the 6-Pack been going for you so far? Is there any artist you have heard (besides yourself) that you really like? Which one of the prizes do you have your eye on? Let us know what you think of the 6-Pack so far and feel free to participate in this blog at your leisure.
Thanks for making this year’s 6-Pack an exciting one from the start and best of luck to all!
-Roy

Jan 30, 2008/4:41 pmTHE BLOG LIVES ON…LONG LIVE THE BLOG.
YES, THANK YOU PENNY…YOU ARE THE SOUL’S INSPIRATION.
SOMETIMES I GET “P…ED OFF” AT STUFF AND WANT TO EXPLODE.
IT DOESN’T DO A BIT OF GOOD SO BE CONSTRUCTIVE WITH YOUR ENERGIES.
FIND A USER FOR YOUR MUSIC AND SUBMIT TO BROADJAM DELIVERY USERS.
IF I FIND ANOTHER SOURCE I’LL SHARE…I’M NOT SELFISH.

Trout fishing anyone?
Yep, George, keep inspiring us.
And I agree, Penny’s holding us all together quite well. Even keeping me from the “dark side”

Jan 30, 2008/4:20 pmYo Kids…
Just wanted to drop in to say hi…
Joe…keep us posted about Timmy…and don’t back down. They’ll eventually see the light.
George…keep kicking butt. I’m loving your passion.
Penny. You’re the glue that’s holding this blog together.
In any case, just wanted to stop by so that I can stay in touch with a very talented group of people.

Jan 30, 2008/8:34 amTO PENNY, JOHN, DAVID, JOE MILLER, IAN, & ANYONE I’M FORGETING, SORRY:
Jan 29, 2008/8:51 pmTHESE HAVE TO BE THE MOST EXCITING TIMES AS WELL AS THE MOST EXASPERATING TIMES FOR INDEPENDENT SONGWRITERS. I GOT “BACK IN THE GAME” A FEW YEARS AGO AND TIMES HAVE CHANGED. I HAD A RECORDING CONTRACT WITH AN INDEPENDENT LABEL WHICH PUT OUT 5 CDS OF MY MATERIAL AND PROMOTED NOTHING. SO I DROPPED MYSELF SINCE IT WAS AN “AD HOC’ ARRANGEMENT. THE BIG LABELS ARE CRAZY AND THROW MONEY AROUND LIKE THEY’RE GAMBLING IN LAS VEGAS. I HAVE MY OWN LABEL, ARCH CITY, AND SO THAT MUST MEAN ANYONE CAN HAVE ONE. I’VE NEVER SOLD A COPY. WANT ONE? I SEND IT TO YOU. NO ONE IS SELLING CDS. PEOPLE LIKE US NEED TO FIND A RESOURCE FOR OUR MATERIAL. BROADJAM LOOKS LIKE AS GOOD A PLACE AS ANY, AT LEAST I HOPE SO. JUST TRY TO FIGURE OUT THAT THE “USER” IS LOOKING FOR AND TARGET THE LISTING. GOOD LUCK.

Jan 28, 2008/10:00 pmWelcome back Joe! Let me know what happens with Timmy. Its a damn shame that they do stuff like that to kids. Its like taking away toys that comfort them.
David
Jan 28, 2008/9:40 pmAll those of you who enjoyed the story of Timmy and Barry White… Timmy has been taken to an “adult” facility as of this past few weeks. Last Sunday I asked if they had taken his music for him… He’s been in this environment for 7 or 8 years and had to be moved since now he is officially an “adult”… They had not taken his music with him and the new player and the cd’s which he enjoyed so much… I was there the last day before he was to be moved and I asked the Nurses if Timmy understood what was about to happen to him… they couldn’t answer… or wouldn’t… I looked at Timmys face and asked the question again and he turned away and looked at the floor… I tried to rouse him with a quick chorus of “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Baby”… and he did not respond… so I think he understood that something big was about to happen to him… I am campaigning to get him his music… this I fear is the “Real” Cuckoos Nest… Yes George, I agree with your wife… One of my favorite films. I saw the play..performed in San Francisco by Johnnie Weismuller, JR. He’d been doing the play for nearly 10 years to full houses for all that time and was phenomenal in the role… Michael Douglas saw the play (acquired the rights) …also when he was in San Francisco doing the series “Streets of San Francisco.. with Karl Malden… When Weismuller didn’t get cast in the movie I think it devastated him… Never was heard from again… And the rest is history. Nicholson was brilliant… and no-one had heard of Weismuller… other than through his father… the 3rd or 4th Tarzan…

from the midwest who couldn’t wait to get to LA… chasing that dream. And within a year of arriving here was touring with Ike and Tina Turner. And those were great times and great memories… but the rest of the Dream… or as Paul Harvey says… the rest of the story… is yea, sure Joe but what did you do with the rest of your life? And many years later I find myself still chasing…something… and yes George thats what I have to say I admire about your tenacity. Now and then I participate in triathalons… and I’m by most standards too old for that kind of stuff.. but there is nothing like coming across that finish line … and receiving the encouragement and feeling the comraderie of the next and the next generation… who long since have run their races but stuck around to encourage us who refused the lure of the “EZ Boy” chair and went out and tried once more to chase after “ourselves”… And to create an environment … a journey that some stranger might come across on a website somewhere and to have someone join you for 3 minutes and enjoy that environment with you is a transcendent experience. It lifts us out of our day to day Ghetto. And we are here to entertain… ourselves and hopefully others. And it is up to us to decide who we will entertain… and hell… it I could sound like a rapper and not like some old white fool trying to rap… I’d probably have a go at that market. It looks to me like they’re having a lot of fun. I made a living in the funk/R&B market through my 20′s… and it was a blast… beat the hell out of being a sideman for the Perry Como’s and Pat Boones … of that time.
Jan 27, 2008/4:22 pmBut the fun now is in the new toys. The learning curves… the possibilites in a digital world that we never dreamed of before. I suppose in the end it may be like getting a new blend of fresco for the Italian painters… and even with the best fresco paint… only a few managed to be in the right place to paint the right picture at the right time to become a classic… Our job is to keep painting…writing… and keep creating the environments that reflect our time…Miles Davis was asked in an interview… why do you keep all your trophys and awards in a box in the garage… he answered…”thats the past.. I’m more interested in the future”. And thats why I find myself coming back here and enjoying this journey with fellow traveler/dreamers… Joe
PENNY:
Jan 27, 2008/4:20 pmTHANKS FOR LISTENING TO “I’M READY FOR LOVE”. I STILL LIKE THE SONG AFTER 6 MONTHS.
YES, THE “GUITAR’ WORK WAS DONE ON A KEYBOARD. I AM NOT ASHAMED OF THAT FACT. THE JOURNEY IS AS IMPORTANT AS THE DESTINATION. WHAT ROUTE YOU TOOK ALONG THE WAY IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS THE SAFE ARRIVAL. IF YOU SPEND MONEY IN A STUDIO OR DO IT AT HOME WITH ONE OF THE MANY EXCELLENT PROGRAMS, GREAT…WONDERFUL… AND MORE POWER TO YOU. LAST YEAR WHEN I WENT TO NASHVILLE FOR A WEEK I WAS TOTALLY SURPRISED. I HADN’T BEEN THERE IN YEARS AND MUSIC ROW WAS ALMOST A WASTELAND. FEW RECORDING STUDIOS AND NOT A LOT OF LIVE MUSIC. COULD IT BE THAT THINGS HAVE CHANGED? IS IT HARDER BECAUSE OF IT? YES!!! THE PLAYING FIELD IS LEVEL BUT THERE ARE TOO MANY PLAYERS ON THE FIELD. HANG IN THERE AND YOU’LL EVENTUALLY BE ON THE STARTING TEAM.
