Hello Broadjam,
The leaderboard for the 2007 6-Pack launched a couple weeks ago and since then we have seen a lot of different names up there—some veterans of the 6-Pack and some new faces as well. Earlier last week, we launched the rankings for our second challenge, Location, Location, Location. Once again, the leaders have changed and the race is starting to heat up. Remember, the leaderboard is updated several times daily and your reviews are extremely important in determining the outcome. Also, you can win each individual challenge that you enter, but it is the Broadjam member with the most points in all challenges that will take home the overall grand prize.
So, how has the 6-Pack been going for you so far? Is there any artist you have heard (besides yourself) that you really like? Which one of the prizes do you have your eye on? Let us know what you think of the 6-Pack so far and feel free to participate in this blog at your leisure.
Thanks for making this year’s 6-Pack an exciting one from the start and best of luck to all!
-Roy

Jan 27, 2008/4:20 pmI’ve been reading over the last few weeks of the blog and …interesting to go away and come back. George… like the guitar work on your last few rockers. Helluva synth to be able to get that sound and make it seem authentic. Even got the attention of the guitarists …Johnnie & Ian.. I still don’t see a synth that does authentic sax but… thats something else. Today its raining in LA and I’m feeling philosophical.. so… I read something recently from a Joe Zawinal interview. One of my favorite pianists… “the art of music is in creating an environment” into which your are inviting people to join you. If they like the environment you’ve created then they stick around. Kind of like setting up your den to have the fellas over to watch the game… if your Sound system isn’t up to someone elses or if your cheese dip is gamey then your audience goes somewhere else to watch the game… or stays home and enjoys their own “environment”. With music the environment is constantly changing and the audience… the paying audience anyway, is always younger. I got a revelation of this when I thought I might play some things I’d written for my adopted teen age Russian daughter. She did not even go to polite… she went straight to “please stop polluting my environment with our garbage.” She favors a mixture of euro-Eastern pop and has no tolerance for anything outside her sonic reference point. After I picked up my ego and dusted it off and took another reference of who’s buying all the great majority of the i-pods and the where the market really is I decided to write for myself and see what happens. George is right, we’re kind of stuck away in our own creative caves and there is a lot of fire against us from the younger mp3 pirating generation. Notice I didn’t say “record buying generation”. Many of us came with this dream of being a musician and with our musical talents dragging ourselves out of the Ghetto. In that respect we’re all kind of like young fighters using our fists to fight our way out of the Ghetto. And believe me a Ghetto doesn’t have to be the inner city… A ghetto is a state of mind. And I came from a Redneck, Midwestern Prairie Ghetto. A very nice polite whitebread kind of rural community… and I couldn’t wait to get out of there … because of my state of mind. I wanted to live a life and not be stuck there like many of my friend who either stayed around or moved to similar small towns with similar deathwishes. George… I admire your tenacity and we’ve probably got more in common culturally than anyone on the blog… I was raised 90 miles from St. Louis. And what I like about this blog and this website is that it gives us the ability to share a common dream. I was a country boy
Hi Johnny! Gald to hear that everything for the project is still in place, that’s great news. George I just listened to “Ready For Love” It’s smokin!!!! Very tight and great vocal. One of your best rockers (guitar solo riff, neat!) and the production was excellent, nice work! Penny

George I wanted to say that if any songs of mine can help you feel better when you are feeling down or put a smile on your face once in a while that’s the important thing to me.Thanks for saying that. Penny

Jan 26, 2008/8:09 amMOST TIMES RIGHT NOW I’M DOING MUSIC FOR MY OWN PERSONAL SATISFACTION. FORTUNATELY I’M NOT HURTING FOR MONEY. IT DONES IRK ME TO NO END THAT A GREAT PERCENTAGE OF “ARTISTS” ARE SO WRAPPED UP IN THE GLAMOUR AND THE “BLING, BLING” OF IT ALL. I ONLY KNOW THERE ARE A GREAT MORE PLACES TO BE HEARD AND THE OVERSEAS MARKET IS HUGE!!! WE ARE THE “FOREIGN FRUIT” OVER THERE. AS MUCH ANIMOSITY AS WE ENGENDER WITH FOREIGNERS THEY RESPECT AND LISTEN TO US AND OUR MUSIC. FUNNY THING IS, I GUESS THEY THINK WE’RE ALL WALKING AROUND WITH OUR PANTS DOWN LOW AND PIERCING IN AND ON VARIOUS PARTS OF OUR BODY. HONESTLY, YOU’D HAVE TO TIE ME DOWN AND I’D GO KICKING AND SCREAMING ALL THE WAY. ANYWAY, MOST THE STUFF “SUN DOWN ON AIR” IS PLAYING IS COUNTRY, BUT I’VE HEARD BLUES AND ONE INSTRUMENTAL THAT IS OUTSTANDING. QUALITY…UP AND DOWN. PLACE TO BE HEARD…YES, I GUESS SO. TRY IT…CAN’T HURT!!!

Hey George that’s neat about the radio station in Denmark! Just great to know that your songs are out there being heard by people. Plus you never know who might be listening! I will check that out I think, thanks for mentioning it. Yes listening to the people here on the blog and on Broadjam in general to me is very inspiring. There is always something worth hearing and then to know the person a bit just makes it even better. Off to dreamsville now but glad THE BLOG is secure! Penny

Jan 25, 2008/8:32 pmI DON’T MIND YOU MENTIONING THIS…FELICE IS A SWEETHEART OF A PERSON. A REAL TALENT!!! SELDOM DO I FIND MYSELF DOWN, BUT WHEN I AM, LISTENING TO GOOD MUSIC LIKE YOUR MUSIC, PENNY, AND FELICE’S IS GENERALLY A GOOD CURE. SAME THING FOR IAN, DAVID AND JOHNNY…DON’T WANT TO LEAVE ANYONE OUT IF I CAN AVOID IT. ORIGINALLY I GOT INTO BROADJAM TO GET MY MUSIC SOMEWHERE…THAT’S A CRAPSHOOT I’M AFRAID. BUT COMRADERIE…THAT’S PRICELESS!!! LET’S KEEP IT UP…GETTING TURNED DOWN ON OUR MUSIC IS HARD ENOUGH. LET’S NOT BE TOUGH ON EACH OTHER. THIS MAY SOUND STRANGE BUT I SUBMITTED A SONG CALLED, “I’M READY FOR LOVE” TO THE RED GORILLA FEST. IT’S A ROCKER AND A LOT DIFFERENT THAT ANYTHING ELSE I’VE WRITTEN. WHEN YOU HEAR THE “HOT” GUITAR WORK YOU’LL SWEAR I CALLED IN A REAL GUITARIST LIKE IAN. SORRY, IT WAS A YAMAHA TYROS II. THE RECORDING WAS DONE IN MY DEN AT 4:00 IN THE MORNING A FEW MONTHS BACK. ANYONE…I LOVE HEARING YOUR MODUS OPERANDI. WE CAN LEARN SO MUCH FROM EACH OTHER. I’M ALL TALKED OUT NOW…THEY NEED TO PUT A MUZZLE ON ME.

Thanks Johnny! Playing your songs and Ians helped the time go by happily both on the way there and back! xox

Hey George! I checked out that contest and still not quite clear about it. Seems that they might be looking for live performance submissions mainly yet I’m not quite certain about that. Good luck if you submit! My friend Felice mentioned on the phone to me last night how amazed she was at your versatility. I agree! You are certainly a multi talented sonwriter and musician! Love, Pen
Jan 25, 2008/5:10 pmThat’s great news Johnny!!! Good luck! It’s nice to know that the blog is still SECURE! Hi David! Say hi to John for me will ya? and thanks again for the blog test call, it’s nice to know it’s still here….Love to Deb and Ian and all great bloggers xox Pen
Jan 25, 2008/4:39 pmHi,
Jan 25, 2008/1:20 pmThanks David for the support!
I have more news on the buzzybee project.
Also at the launch next week will be Jack Straw.
He is the Foreign Secretary for the British Government here.
He and David Prowse will both be there to help launch the project and we have also just received another order for 1000 more dvd’s from a large transport company in the UK which is great news for everyone concerned as it will help to get the dvd into more schools.
Fingers crossed that all goes well next week when they launch it!
Thanks to everyone for their support.
Bye for now
Johnny.

Jan 25, 2008/11:45 amHey guys!
I can post from work, but for some reason, I can’t post from home.
So… Good luck Johnny on the launch of your Buzzabee video project. Prowse is a great man. Have a lot of respect for someone who can still stand tall after having his voice robbed from a major movie. He still had to act the body language which I don’t think anyone else could’ve done so well.
Hi George, not entering the Red Gorilla, because most of my stuff is not performance based. I think they’re looking for rock more than new age piano and soundtrack music. The Abbey’s could probably enter, John and I would have to wear labcoats on stage and we’d need a drummer to be on stage with us.
