Britt Warren’s song, “Hot Pursuit” was awarded first place in the Guitar Player Picks Contest and featured in the June ‘09 issue of Guitar Player Magazine. Broadjam.com agrees that Britt’s song is awesome. Within the first 20 seconds of the song it’s evident that Britt is a seasoned player. Since 1979 he has been a session pro, writer, and touring musician.
Upon starting a family, Britt decided to leave the road behind and took a job with an ad agency as an in-house composer for national TV and radio campaigns. Now that his kids have grown, Britt has re-emerged as a performance artist. In 2002 he release a project titled, “Fearless” and he is currently working on a new project that is close to completion. I don’t know!! After two(2) years of submitting to various sources, I still don’t have any bites. If my songs are crap, that’s one thing, just wish I could get a fair shake!!!
How much do you believe in your ability to throw down?
I wanna hear the best every body has to offer this year… I honestly can’t wait to start reviewing.
Its time the BJ community made its presence known unlike any year prior…
Utilize the 6-Pack Blogs, ask for advice from seasoned pros (not me silly,) talk about the various categories and discuss what “works” for each. Refine, dissect, evolve…
Bj isn’t just a place to shop your music, its a home to thousands of professionals and brilliant minds…
Make your voices heard.
Get in the game.
Be the “Rockstar Jedi.”
Good luck everyone… I know this year is gonna rock.
Well, it’s time to get your songwriting chops lubed and prepare for the 5th Annual 6-Pack Songwriting Competition.
As I mentioned, this is the fifth year of the 6-Pack. Liz Miller won the first two and Margaret McClure won the past two. I’m sure many of the veterans will be returning as I have been receiving steady inquiries about the starting date, challenges, etc. The first four categories are the annual primer (any song you have), a love song, an instrumental and a spiritual song. The last two will be announced later and I’m sure you’re going to love them!
Troy: that article gave me an idea. Let’s all start our own line of clothing. Just imagine: Body Worx from Clan of the Can. WE could each design a featured piece for the line.
We could even get Protilius and Johnny UK to co-write and produce a song to promote the clothing. . . just a thought.
Laughing my @ss off regarding that Cyrus interview. Tech Trash…a man after my own heart. Hook? What hook? I tried it, and had fun with it, but am going back to what comes naturally. ;-).
Given… you might not look as hot as a super sex icon swinging across your living room floor in pajamas, but at least you can record like one.
With the SM57-x2u you’ve got industry standard live performance ready to go in a nicely packaged portable bundle. This mic delivers industry standard performance naturally on the fly with absolutely no latency to confuse your likely already emotionally conflicted but incredibly talented vocalist.
No need to complicate things with unwanted latency… We have enough things to consider as producers, right?
So don’t take chances.
When it comes time to make all the pieces fit in a convenient and portable fashion, you know it’ll always boil down to the tried and true formulas when it comes to making it all work.
Come home to Shure… Its the one thing you can count on in such an unpredictable world.
This shot was from the days when “Coffee” was my drink of choice. (Thinks back nostalgically…)
I’d really like to thank everyone for the general show of support and all of your incredible words. I honestly had to check my ID to make sure I was “still me” being you all had so many great things to say.
“Who the hell are these guys all talking about anyway?” (Looks behind him, off to the sides, and then below.)
I’d also like to thank Broadjam for hosting so many great give aways and contests. These guys really make a difference in independent music and it is truly appreciated. I can’t even afford to pay off my tab most weeks, much less buy a much needed microphone to scream into at 4am in the morning.
Haha… Roy… You just got me evicted. LOL So yeah, er… Thanks.
I feel bad ousting the young girl with her eyes set on music so early on in her life, it was an inspiring blog… I think with parents that care that much, she’ll have a good shot at exploring a wonderful gift at a young age, this I am sure of.
But, I guess eventually good things can happen for me too though, so I’m gonna take it as it comes and be grateful for it:)
I’ve never won anything… Thank you so much BJ community.
Mbox2 Pro: Well, I’ve been using Pro Tools for a couple of years now.
So, How would I use thee? Let me count the ways:
Firewire: crazy connections speeds and much nicer than my Mbox 2 or my Mbox 2 Micro. I’ll admit that I love them both, but with the featues that Pro Tools Mbox 2 Pro offers…I’m definitely enamored with this baby.
Dual Headphones jacks: Can you say “No splitter wires”…all together now “NO SPLITTER WIRES”. Best of all, when I finally convince my wife to sing the hook on my next song as I track the vocals, I won’t blow her eardrums out with the 808s I have cranking on the track. Now that’s money in the bank…almost better than saving money using Geico.
Pro Tools 8 LE: The name says it all…I’d pull an all-nighter in my office, err, I mean my studio to get familiar with all the tools this baby has to offer. Shazam - I’d be an overnight sensation (well, maybe)
Dual Mic inputs: Perfect for singing background along with my lead singers…set the volume just right and I won’t sound so terrible…ahh forget the Auto-Tune. It’s all getting your compression and input settings right (and paying for a good singer too). With the Mbox 2 Pro, I’m all over it!
Lastly, getting my hands on the Mbox2 Pro…I’d be forced to put my current Mbox 2 on the shelf. Heck, I might even donate it to charity. I can’t say the same for my Mbox2 Micro (I’m attached now) but with Pro Tools 8 in tandem…look out the next platinum producer.
We’ve got another opportunity to win free gear in a Giveaway Blog! This time, the fine people at Bose have a very cool new speaker that they want to give a Broadjam member - the Bose L1 Compact.
Like all Bose L1 models, the new L1 Compact system combines conventional PA and monitors into one sleek, highly portable unit that can be positioned behind or beside a performer. Its advanced technologies enable the system to deliver wide, smooth sound coverage throughout the stage area and audience ― even off to the sides ― throughout the stage area and an audience of approximately 100. And, the new L1 Compact system is the lightest, easiest-to-set-up and most affordable L1 model yet.
Make sure to leave your comment and get a chance to win this ultra-modern setup!
We have been playing Indoor/outdoor acoustic gigs with as much as 5 instruments going through the L1 Model I, B1 Bass Module, and Tone-match unit. BOSE IS UNBELIEVABLE! No matter where you stand, you hear it clearly! No monitors, No back pain, and non-interested sound engineers are in the past. Your Sound, Your Vision, Your GIG! I’ve worked in a music retail store for 8 years. When BOSE introduced the L1, it was revolutionary! The compact L1, is the counterpart in which now brings the performance experience to that of which is not a JOB, but a luxury. Lightweight, Portable, and an enjoyable listening experience that’s affordable. Way to go BOSE!
I have been a professional entertainer for a long time. About 10 years ago, I had to give it up. I just couldn’t handle hauling the speakers around.
I have been fortunate enough in my music career to have won three BMI awards for a theme song I wrote for TV show (”Walker, Texas Ranger”). It would be great to be able to play out again, and be able to sell some CDs.
I went into a music store a few years back, and tried out the first model of this system. I was blown away.
It actually did things I had previously thought were physically impossible. It was an L-shaped room that I tried it out. I could hear my guitar, and my voice, around the corner and all the way to the back of the L. I could hear myself just as clearly and just as loud as I could standing right next to the speaker.
I stood next to the speaker with my microphone. No feedback. This was at full volume. I was in SHOCK.
It’s hard for me to imagine that they have improved it with this new model. But, then again, it was hard for me to imagine that the old model could actually even exist.
I have a cousin who was, for several years, the head of the advertising department at Bose. Her husband was one of the engineers who, I believe, had a hand in the PS-1 project.
Do you think they could get me a discount? Har-de-har!
The way I look at it, it would certainly be sweet to get one of these puppies for free.
Having said that, my prayer is that it will go to the person who has the most need, even if that’s not me.
All the best, and keep the faith,
Tirk Wilder
I have always been fascinated by exotic speaker design. I have owed electro static, walsh tweeters, mylar, etc. I am still using one of the first releases of the Bose Accousticmass speakers and the legendary 501s. The 501s reproduce piano music better than any other speaker I have ever heard! I have even auditioned the esteemed Bang & Olufsen system.
I have heard the Bose L1. I was amazed with the outstanding response wether I was standing next to the speaker or across the room. It sounded incredibly the same. Something no other speaker can claim or even come close.

Oh yeah, it’s another opportunity to win free gear in a Giveaway Blog! This time, the fine people at Bose have a stunning new speaker valued at $1000 that they want to give a Broadjam member.
Like all Bose L1 models, the new L1 Compact system combines conventional PA and monitors into one sleek, highly portable unit that can be positioned behind or beside a performer. Its advanced technologies enable the system to deliver wide, smooth sound coverage ― even off to the sides ― throughout the stage area and an audience of approximately 100. And, the new L1 Compact system is the lightest, easiest-to-set-up and most affordable L1 model yet.
Big sound. Small package.
The L1 Compact system is small enough to fit in your trunk or back seat, and its innovative modular design makes setup easy and fast. You can arrange it in either a collapsed configuration for smaller spaces or a taller, extended configuration for larger ones. No extra gear to haul. No heavy speakers to hoist onto stands. No speaker cables.
A different loudspeaker
The L1 Compact system’s slim loudspeaker distributes sound clearly and evenly throughout the room, thanks to Bose Spatial Dispersion™ technology. The speaker’s unusual vertical shape makes it distinctly different from conventional PA speakers―and has a very positive effect on sound coverage. Even audience and band members at the extreme sides hear the same clear, tonally balanced sound as those in front.
All-in-one integrated system
With the L1 Compact system, you don’t have to carry a separate amplifier, mixer or bass cabinet: They’re already built in. The system’s power stand includes an integrated bass speaker and amplifier, plus a built-in mixer providing a total of four inputs and two outputs.
Channel 1 is a microphone input with a proprietary, customized ToneMatch preset for a handheld dynamic microphone. The preset automatically optimizes a handheld microphone’s tone when used with the L1 Compact system. Channel 2 accepts up to three inputs at once, including a guitar, keyboard or other instrument, DJ mixer, MP3 player, laptop or projector. It features a customized ToneMatch preset to optimize the sound of an acoustic guitar.
The new L1 Compact system: outstanding audio performance, simplified setup and one-trip portability. Only from Bose.
How do you win the Bose L1 Compact? Simple! Add a comment here telling us what features stand out, and how you would use this product. As a 3-piece group we are wanting something portable and sexy. The days are gone of lugging huge, heavy speakers around to gigs - it looks unprofessional, and doesn’t give a good first impression. I’ve seen audience members take one look at bands loading in with such gear, and seen them leave due to the impression the sound is going to be pumping out at mega-volume, and not a pleasant experience.
The Bose L1 Compact system has stylish cutting-edge design, and it would be a privelege to use such technology. With Bose reputation, our 3-part harmonies (which are a large part of our sound) would knock people’s sox off, and not only would we sound awesome, but we’d look modern and hi-tech too!
I am a Canadian and have been performing my original songs and creating dance choreography for children for over 25 years. My travels have taken me as far north as Churchill, Manitoba. A highlight of my performing career was having my original songs performed with symphony orchestras all across Canada for an average of 2000 people per show. Two weeks later, after the symphony tour I was performing the same material in Cross Lake, Manitoba for 14 people who travelled to the gig on snowmobiles. I am thankful for the interesting life I’ve managed to create for myself in this “music biz”. Recently I have been using my new home Boes system for the music for my choreography workshops and it actually has enough power to fill any gymnasium I have set up in. (I have to dismantle our home system every time I get a gig) I know your speaker system would be perfect for my performance and workshop needs. Everywhere I go I promote your products because people can’t believe I’m getting such great sound! I even used it for my mother’s memorial. I do want to thank you for that.
I will be going to several northern reserves next year with my performances and workshops and will continue to use and promote your products.
I have been looking at these and dreaming that I could actually purchase this system. I have been a huge fan of Bose for most of my life , and Bose has always set the standard for others to attempt to follow when it comes to quality sound. I can just imagine the uses for this awesome system , on stage , in my home studio as a monitor system that gives me true to life sound reproduction , in coffee houses , or just listening to myself play , but with Bose , you know the quality is the best you can get.
