I liked jim Ferrie’s idea of a spoken word/ musical background. Although it doesn’t have to be a rap.. . could just be a short story with music written to the emotion. Gee, maybe that’s a category that Liz Miller hasn’t done yet !
“Best Old School Video Game Song Contest (Super Mario Style)” and “Best New Age” are great idea!
Someone find a best selling book that is going to be made into a movie and the contest will be the song that best represents the book and is also musically excellent - and when the movie gets made tthe producers will have a bunch of broadjam songs that they can hear and might use some for the movie! MindFire is my name - music is my game!
Everyone has guilty pleasures. For some, it’s chocolate. For others, it’s “Wheel of Fortune”. Some people even like cleaning! These indulgences are all fine and good. But what we want to know is, deep down inside the farthest reaches of your musical taste, what do you reach for when no one else is around to hear?
Maybe it’s a song that’s a little past its prime. Can we get a little Sugar Ray over here? Perhaps it’s an entire album. Do you drive with the windows closed so you can listen to “The Biz Never Sleeps”? It could even be an entire genre. *Cough* 80’s New Wave anyone?
Whatever your secret weakness is, we want you to share it with us. Who knows, you might even find that you are not alone.

For me it’s an all Aussie affair circa 1970-1979:
Skyhooks - Love on the radio, Carlton & Love’s not good enough
Flash & the Pan - Down among the dead men, Walkin in the rain
Mother Goose - Baked beans
Sherbet - Casandra, Summer love
Australian Crawl - Beautiful People
Sports - What did the detectives say?
Russell Morris - Sweet sweet love, Wings of an eagle
Daddy Cool - Eagle Rock
Mark Gillespie - Nothin special
Great times, greater music, greatest country on earth man!
Dude, y’all need to check out Toby Tune’s playlist. This cat knows his music. No narrow-minded fluff here.
My guilty pleasures: ’80s top 40 including:
B-52s -Love Shack
Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time
Eurythmics - Here Comes the Rain Again
Dan Fogelberg - Same Old Lang Syne
Van Halen - Panama
Journey - Faithfully
Toto - I Won’t Hold You Back
Foreigner - Head Games
Michael McDonald - I Keep Forgettin’
Christopher Cross - Sailing
Queen - Another One Bites the Dust
Whitesnake - Still of the Night
John Cougar Mellencamp - Little Pink Houses
And just about any ’80s Christian Rock music that was coming from independent labels like:
Adam Again
Undercover
Altar Boys
One Bad Pig
Rez
LSU
The Choir
The ’80s was Christian Rock’s Golden Age, and I wish more people were aware of these gems.
I can be seen jammin’ to Motley Crue’s Merry Go Round, George Benson’s version of Stardust, Stevie Wonder doing Country (I Ain’t Stand For It), my iPOD is filled with great recordings that are kinda odd but very cool to me.

I am Loving France. I just finished day 1 of MIDEM and it’s absolutely mind blowing. Music oppurtunities are everywhere. There are conferences, luncheons, concerts and parties involving music industry professionals day and night. I never imagined that I would ever have business in the south of France but here I am. I have to hit the sack, I have a busy day planned tomorrow. Wish me luck and check out my tunes. Drop me a line if you find the MIDEM discussion interesting!!!

NIKKI HORNSBY music: Grammy 2007 first ballot held 8 nominations from “Just Wait” CD internationally marketed with commerical airplay (radio & tv). From the same “Just Wait” collection of original songs, CJP-NHRecords 2006 release: “This IS America” was on CNN International TV for the World Cup soccer warm up game USA vs. Italy held in Germany 2006 (can see a video clip on http://www.myspace.com/nikkihornsbyfanpage anytime but in 2007 Nikki Hornsby music has a submission for “Flyin Over Sweet Alabama” to ACM nomination ballot. This song was #5 on the Country Hit Parade in Germany as well as played throughout other countries like Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, etc.
Currently Ms. Hornsby, along with writing more songs, which are always available to anyone wanting to record them, is now doing a large civic duty helping out daily the USA military & government dependents abroad with one to one personal instructions at a community center on a military base in Central Europe.
Nikki Hornsby’s return to her office & personal items remaining in Los Angeles has once again been delayed but having her car sitting in CA for so long has made it hard for her especially now working on the military base where they do not allow her to purchase gas without her registered car ….so without the help traveling in support CJP-NHRecords products Nikki has had to rely on her savings and continues to do so until she obtains the support requred.
Nikki Hornsby misses her beloved country so very much after working so hard internationally for her music world wide and could use prayers that success will bring her back to her birth State of CA (USA) and the studio in Los Angeles which is one of her major goals.
Daniel Nolan has entered the top ten charts in 7 different genres ! Of these, holding the number 1 position in ‘rock/easy listening’ and ‘region/Australia’, Daniel Nolan has become an Australian force to be reckoned with ! In a short few weeks, Daniel has become 1 of the fastest growing web base performers that Broadjam has seen for quite some time.
If you enjoy an ambient, dark, deep provocative pop/rock groove, then this young solo recording artist has the perfect feel to please.

Broadjam is once again teaming up with computer and video game giant Konami to find the next songs that will move the feet of millions of Dance Dance Revolution fans across the world.
In the spirit of this quest, we’re asking for your best DDR stories. Can you dance with the best or was your first time on the floor the last?
Post your best (or worst) DDR story on the Broadjam Blog.

I remember the first time I tried Dance Dance Revolution. It was a Pet Shop Boys remix. Anyways, it was a bad scene. I recommend the running game (in the home editions). It’s like the old Nintendo track…but with techno music and bright lights.
Maybe it happened the first time you heard the guitar intro to “Stairway to Heaven”, or maybe it was the day you first touched those piano keys. Maybe Tupac’s lyrics inspired you to write your own. Or maybe you broke into the music scene after listening to your uncle’s polka band practice in the garage.
What were those key events and who were your influences that led you to create your own music?

I make music because for me music is as much of part of my life as breathing, eating and sleeping. As a child and adolescent, music was like therapy for me…and it still is to this very day. People don’t understand why I, a 46 year old grandmother, continues to write and record songs and to play guitar either at local gigs or even busking on the streets. I’m a receptionist during the day but for me I need more than that… I continue to do this because I not only love it but because it’s a force within me that simply must come out…and no matter how much I tell myself becoming a music star is an unrealistic dream..that dream won’t go away…so I decided…if ya can’t beat it, join it, eh?
In fact, I had almost 11 terrible years where I didn’t pick up that guitar because I allowed other people to tell me that I needed to “face reality” about my musical ambitions and dreams…plus all the pressures of single parenthood and working to keep myself and a child clothed, fed and housed forced me to sell the guitar, too. Now my girl is grow with a family of her own, and I’ve got an empty nest…and you can imagine I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that the love and need to make music never died despite those “inactive” years…so now I call myself a “Nana” whose a rocker and while I may never be a star…I will not allow peers or negative reviews to get me down. I will be fulfilling my bliss and using my god given talents…and now the only way I’ll only give up that acoustic guitar is if they pull it from my cold. dead. fingers!!!
love Dillon and Morison and the way they wove words into music - infused poetry with the emotion from the music.
Well i really was always into rap, growing up deep down south, but it wasn’t until i sat in the room watching my Uncle Shawn and his 1st group I figured that this music thing wasn’t too hard. From them on i went on about writing and bettering myself studying all the greats and here i am today telling yall about it gettin ready to put out my first mixtape check out the tracks on my page they’re for SALE

Wow! What a crazy ride. . . this has been a past few months I’ll never forget! I have learned so much just from getting to “live” around 9 complete strangers and I have learned even more about myself as a musician and performer! I want to thank every single one of you who gave me a vote, who took the time to send me a sweet comment, those who tuned into the show, and the friends and family who took the time and money to come support me in Nashville. And I want to say a special thanks to everyone at Broadjam - your support means a lot to me because I know you are musicians like me. We are very lucky to have a resource like Broadjam to help hone our craft.
I cannot wait to really hit the Texas music scene as hard as I can to promote my new completed album I’ve been working on for months. It’s something I’m really proud of and can’t wait for y’all to hear it.
I am walking away from this show with nothing but great things to say. This is not a stopping point. I am not discouraged. I’m not a quiter! THANK YOU again to every one of you for supporting me. I hope to see y’all out on the road!
Love,
Kacey
