ZOX Bio

The violin-laced rock sound of Providence, RI based ZOX can best be described as The Cure meets The Police meets Beethoven. Recent college grads, the quartet has toured over 400 clubs and schools in the past 2 years, & been spun on over 200 college radio stations and a dozen commercial stations including Albany(NY)/Manchester(VT)'s 102.7 WEQX (www.weqx.com); in June 2005 two tracks each (Thirsty, Can't Look Down, & Carolyn) from the band's new album were added at these stations. The single "Can't Look Down" currently receives over 200 requests a week and is heard alongside NIN, Oasis, Weezer, & The Foo Fighters, making ZOX the only independent band to be played on the "TOP 5 at 5" and "TOP 10 at 10" consistently week after week. 12,000 Soundscan verified copies of the debut band-produced album, ?Take Me Home? (Armo Records, the band?s indie label), have sold to date. ZOX?s music has been licensed by MTV's Real World/Road Rules, w/ 7 tracks officially used in these programs. Two ZOX tracks were licensed in the summer of '05 by Michael Moore for use in his production company's (Westside Productions) Slacker Tour DVD, which documents his tour of cities during the '04 presidential campaign--these tracks are heard along side tunes by Eddie Vedder, Joan Baez, and Anti-Flag. The band delivers ?elaborate instrumentation, searing violin leads, complex arrangements, & finely shifting time signatures? (New Haven Register) to serve up ?a sound like little you?ve ever heard? (Northampton Valley Advocate), drawing 200-1100 people in over 12 major Northeastern cities w/ their full-time touring schedule. ZOX has developed a 1000-person street team, 12,000-person mailing list, & has shared the stage w/ The Warped Tour ?04, Everclear, Guster, Black Eyed Peas, The Roots, OAR, Rusted Root, & Goldfinger, among others. ?The Wait? (Armo Records) will be in stores across the Northeast in August 2005 via a recent distribution deal w/ Redeye Distributors, & was mixed by Mitch Easter (R.E.M.). www.zoxband.com
