One day in the early 1970s a boy rides his bike to the local convenience store with 75 cents in his pocket. He grabs the little paper bag to fill with the same candy that he had done for that whole summer, and suddenly pauses. Looking up at the wall of 45 rpm singles he spots Sweet City Woman by The Stampeders and waffles - will it be candy or music...?
The single didn't last the rest of the summer (broken in a suitcase) but the obsession that was music has lasted nearly half a century and he rarely eats candy.
