The Story!
Featuring new worship hymns co-written and sung by Dove Award winner Aaron Shust, Billy Smiley of White Heart, Dave Ellefson (formerly with Megadeth), Brian Oleson (formerly with the Newsboys), Scott Wesley Brown, plus many new worship leaders and artists from around the country.
Anchored in the church's historic worship, but seasoned with the fresh winds of the spirit's movement, Billy Smiley and Scott Wesley Brown started writing, arranging, and rewriting the hymns in a fresh new way. Then they gathered some of their friends and worship leaders with the same desire and needs in their own churches to come out to a retreat lodge in Strawberry, Arizona and help them write more hymns! Now they are singing around the country and showing worship leaders how to bring the great hymns of the faith into the church of today. From traditional styles, to hymns with contemporary and modern styles, they share about the needs of todays worship leaders and they discuss the "hot topic" of the battle of blended worship.
Billy Smiley - Was co-founder with Dann Huff and Mark Gersmehl of the Rock Group White Heart. They went on to tour worldwide, selling over 2.5 million records, with 17 #1 Singles, 2 Grammy nominations, and 23 Dove nominations. Geared for churches, concerts, and conferences, his new worship band ‘Symphony in Red’ and the ‘Worship Hymns’ album series are aiming to reach a new generation with the beauty and history of the past in the musical language of today.
Scott Wesley Brown - an artist whose career has spanned three decades, he continues to prove his relevancy to the changing times. He has recorded 23 albums and his music has been recorded by many popular Christian artists including Amy Grant, Petra and Sandi Patty. Scott has been a featured singer at Promise Keepers and has written several songs for these events. His latest single last fall, ‘Jesus I Come’ was a top ten hit as well as being a rewritten hymn.
