Biography

Tiz is an Italian/Hungarian female solo artist now living in the UK. Having spent time growing up between Italy and France, Tiz moved the UK in 1996 to pursue a music career. She is a singer, a songwriter and a musician. Her music is composed principally on the piano or the bass. A classically trained pianist from childhood, she later picked-up the bass and gave into rock’n roll… With her undeniably unique and distinctive voice, Tiz mixes rock with pop, orchestral piano ballads with easy listening… Speaking 5 languages (Italian, French, English, Spanish & Hungarian), she puts her European essence to full use.

Her ‘debut’ album Esoteric, released on Labrador Records in 2000, was full of indication of who she is and what she represents. Esoteric was produced by Jon Auer (Posies, Big Star) between London and Seattle. Recorded in two weeks only, the album still managed to convey its fresh, raw energy and the strength of Tiz’s songwriting, but the hasty production unfortunately didn’t always allow for Tiz’s complex melodies to reach their full potential. All in all, Esoteric is a refreshing mixture of genres, all inter-linked by a very personal choice of harmonies and unique writing style.

In January 2004, Tiz entered the studio for 11 weeks to begin production on her second studio album in London. Under the wing of word-renowned drummer (Sheryl Crowe, The Finn Brothers…) and producer Jeremy Stacey, Tiz has finally been given the chance to really capture her sound. The album, entitled Fall for Me, is made of 11 songs (3 of which are in French); of rock, roll, pop, easy listening and whatever else you’d like to categorise it as. One invariable other than the striking songwriting is her yet again unique voice weaving in and out effortlessly through every track. From the instantaneous rocker ‘Living It Up’ (featuring former Moke guitarist Sean Genockey) to the unadulterated soul of ‘Southern Beauty’ (featuring Zero 7 guitarist Dedi Madden), through to the piano lead fragile title track ‘Fall For Me’, Tiz will undoubtedly land her place in the hearts of the public in waiting.

Tiz's song Living It Up made it to the top 10 finalists in the Rock/Alternative category in the 2005 USA Songwriting Competition.
